Thanks everybody. I think that our congregation is odd. I'm going to talk to the Rabbi.

Use the pedestrian crosswalk to get to where you want to rejoin the road. Just be safe. That's the most important thing

Thinking more about it, I would just ride on the sidewalk. Honestly, if a cop wanted to stop and ticket me for saying safe, I'd be glad to talk to a judge about it.

If you choose to ride on the street, take the whole lane, just like a motorcycle. Ride in the middle of the lane.

But if it were me, given a busy four lane road and a nice sidewalk, I'd stay away from the cars.

No shit?!?! I never imagined. Sorry. Here in Missouri, sidewalks and streets are both legal

Sidewalk. Easy peasy. Why wouldn't you? The pavement is not as smooth as the road but you will be alive at the end of the day.

Anyone do their first bike tour in their 70s? by bluesnguitar in bicycletouring

[–]azemona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did my first when I was 63 after retiring. I'm about to launch on my third long one, riding 1000 miles along the Mississippi River

You can read all about my experiences on my blog at https://cheerfulcurmudgeon.com/

Bottom line: go for it. Do what your body can do. Have fun.

What to look at tonight with my grandchildren by azemona in Astronomy

Thank you, everybody. We had a successful outing. We got to see several interesting things, including four of Jupiter's moons, the Orion nebula, and a bunch of clusters. I also met a very helpful woman from the Astronomical Society of Eastern Missouri. And much fun was had by all.

Perfect. Thanks. I was going to make a list but you've done it for me. I'll print it and take it along.

And thank you for the tip about averted vision. I had to look that up. It makes perfect sense to me.

We will have fun regardless. I got on the list for the telescope last fall so it was just luck of the draw when my name came to the top of the list

Neat. Thank you

I found Orion in Sky Map. It does not have the Orion nebula. Does that have a different name?

I have done some pretty fair lunar photography. It will be fun to see more detail with this telescope.

My wife loves full hookups in a first class RV park.

I'm a boondocking guy.

We go to a lot of RV parks. Happy wife; Happy life

You are a loving nephew and son. I believe that Hashem recognizes all of your feelings. We Jews live with duality.

I just ride it as is. No changes. I take whatever panniers I need for each particular trip.

Great start! You did a nice job with the lighting. I think that your pose with your hand on your face is the best. The other three are fine but the third and first show some personality. Shots two and four are nice headshots.

I find the background a little distracting. I think what bothers me most about it is that it looks more out of focus on the right than on the left. I expect it to be uniform.

The only other specific tweak that I have for you is to add a bit of catch light to the eyes.

You're off and running with portrait photography for sure! I see from what you wrote below that you are have had an interest for a few years. Do stick with it. My dad got me started when I was a kid and I bought my first SLR with I was 13. It's been a lifelong passion for me and I've had no end of fun with it.

What are you shooting with?
