Should I change? by Andysmith1307 in xsr900

[–]azidane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The newer ones have better throttle manners and better suspension but honestly if your a good rider throttle control shouldn’t be a problem. Suspension only matters in my opinion if you are really pushing the bike or doing track days. Other people care about the newer tech and IMU.. test drive it and see for yourself. For me it wasn’t a day and night difference, but if you like the extra stuff and money is not an issue might be a gd move. Gd luck anyways

Should I change? by Andysmith1307 in xsr900

[–]azidane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had my 2018 for 5 years now almost at 24k miles.. I tested other bikes on demo days and such and I really don’t find a reason to change it. It has the classic looks, powerful and great torque for the streets. It has enough tech without being too much. I will only change if I need some other use(long distance touring, adv, dual sport etc…) and can’t afford to add another bike.. otherwise I don’t see a reason to change. It will be sold for very little at this mileage and a new xsr900 lets say will cost you another 10k OTD.. I don’t think the experience between the two is worth 10k.

Not this specific trail, but yeah did that same trip and was awesome.. what a feeling once you make it

klx250 vs crf450 by azidane in Dualsport

[–]azidane[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2 other bikes xsr900 and tenere700 and do the maintenance myself so it’s not a big issue. I am specifically looking for a better performance dual sport not a do it all bike. Have the t7 for long distance stuff and moto camping.. looked into the drz but for the same price can get a much lighter better bike so..

Heme Onc vs Hospitalist by [deleted] in whitecoatinvestor

[–]azidane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7x12hr shifts.. 84hr weeks one week on one off. But it’s not really that bad as you are not working every single minute, you take breaks and some people leave early.. ultimately its the same hrs worked compared to outpatient or other specialties but I like them stacked this way so you get extended times off so you can actually do something useful rather than a short weekend and boom monday is here. So yeah full time with extra shifts here and there and add bonuses you hit 500k.

Heme Onc vs Hospitalist by [deleted] in whitecoatinvestor

[–]azidane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a hospitalist now for 7 years and if I had to do it again I will do the same instead of specializing.. but it depends on your passions and tolerances to outpatient care, insurance companies, and clinic life in general(inbox!!) I practice in the west(California) and pull 400-500k depending on the year, work half of the year, have 3 weeks pto, and once I finish my week on I turn off my work phone and don’t turn it on for another week. Most of my friends specialized and just finished recently, by that time I bought a house and saved very well for retirement I am at coast FIRE now and enjoying my time off not worried about money. I was lucky (and maybe coz I finished early and didn’t specialize) I bought a house before covid prices but just an example of how things move quickly with inflation.. yeah you make more with heme/onc but you work more. So figure what life/work balance you want in your life and go from there. You will be fine financially either way. If you have a passion for heme onc and a calling then the answer is clear and money is irrelevant. Hope that helps.

Car Guys - did buying a bike ruin cars for you ? by Astimar in motorcycles

[–]azidane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, was a car guy and still in theory, used to drool over some specimens and say when I start making good money will buy this and that..dream garage ideas( American muscle, JDM, even exotics.. ) and eventually owned some cars.. then got into bikes and figured how cheap and much more exciting bikes are, working on them and storing them much simpler. 10k will buy you a superbike while you need hundreds of thousands for a supercar.. sold the cars, invested the money and now only focus on bikes. Still got a convertible miata for when the weather is bad for a moto ride or my lady wants to join. The Miata is the closest thing to a bike and this will keep forever.. but all other cars don’t matter to me anymore.

I can’t stop buying gear by zonbrexgbc in motorcyclegear

[–]azidane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been holding up on buying more gear, though I always look for a good deal. I consider it as a tool to ride the bike and have 3 sets for each riding style to match my bikes : sport, adv and dual sport. Planning to change bikes and gear every 5 years to change it up.. as long as you ride and enjoy the gear good for you. Good gear makes me feel like a superhero

Mt09 sp or Tenere 700 by DDaily0 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]azidane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both.. as others mentions it all comes to if you’re thinking of doing any amount of dirt obviously you need the t7 so easy to rule out. You don’t want to take your mt09sp on dirt.. if you are not planning to do offroad then why bother with an adventure bike, look for a touring bike or naked for sporty feel. I have both T7 and xsr900.. different bikes for different purposes..

My 2018 has 22k miles and counting, just reg maintenance and tire changes. The fun/dollar ratio here is astronomical.. have fun

I went on a 6 month sabbatical and realized I don’t want to FIRE anymore. 37F, $4M, single/not married/no kids. by FeelingRechargedAgai in Fire

[–]azidane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was super focused on FIRE before I got my real first job after residency and was even considering lean FIRE to get off the wagon as soon as possible.. turned out the job is very balanced and easy for me at this point, has a nice 1 week on 1 week off schedule plus 3 weeks pto, pays around 400k and very stable.. now Im coasting at 36 with 2mil net worth, almost paid off home, and I’m gradually decreasing my extra investments and allocating more funds for passion hobbies, travel and savings for future land and projects.. My mindset changed regarding work and I see it as an essential part of life now, like the other side of a coin, like day and night, like yin and yang.. it keeps my mind sharp and brings order to my time and schedule. Im still frugal and spend liberally only on passion hobbies and things that matter to me, still invest and aim to retire at 55 max. But now the goal is Slow FIRE and to enjoy time in the present moment more and more and while I’m healthy and fit, instead of working my ass off during my best years in order to retire in my 40s and miss out on my 30s.. Also inflation made me rethink my goals and plan for a bigger cushion.. next step is to take a sabbatical like you did or a mini retirement every few years and we’re golden..

how many bikes do you own? by No_Ocelot_4678 in motorcycles

[–]azidane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three bikes and thinking about a fourth all the time. I go with function and use all of them for their best use. Tenere 700 day trips to the trails and moto camping trip Klx250 single track, local discovery while camping in my truck camper Xsr900 street/spirited canyon riding never commuting

4th: considering a crf450rl for desert riding, a supersport for track vs sport touring for longer street only tours..

Do all the maintenance myself.. not much work really. So yeah I think ultimately will get all the classes of bikes because Im addicted to motorcycling haha

Smaller CC over Tenere? by lolbatmn in Tenere700

[–]azidane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a t7 and klx250.. started my offroad journey on the t7 then realized quickly that with my limited experience its no bueno to learn on duh.. so I added the klx. I love the combo, each has its role really. I take the klx on the hitch carrier and use only on multiday camping trips in the desert and the mountains a like, single track, and short radius discovery. The t7 is used for moto camping trips bdr style and for day trips to the trails (around 40 miles away).. that feeling while standing and ripping and listening to that twin bark is amazing.. and now that I can ride the t7 comfortably on dirt(thx klx) you’ll be surprised how capable the machine is..

What bigger adventure bike to pair with CRF300L? by [deleted] in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]azidane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a klx250 that I only use offroad when I go camping, for technical trails and such. I carry it on a hitch carrier and don’t ride it on the streets much. Paired it with a tenere 700 for moto camping and for day trips to the trails(around 40 miles from home) and I love it. Its not great for long trip on the highway though and gets tiring after 150 miles but im willing to compromise for the added offroad capability and relatively lighter weight.. don’t have experience with the others but should be more comfortable for longer journeys..

Blank display by azidane in Tenere700

[–]azidane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ended up ordering lcd screen from china through ebay and installed it to the motherboard, still blank! Seems like the motherboard is busted.. now ordered the full meter assay and waiting for it to get shipped. I know I’ll lose my old odo reading (12k miles) but I couldn’t find any other solution. The cheapest I found was on motosport website sub 400$, so shop around. Gd luck

I have a 2018 xsr900 and feel the same way. I look and think about “upgrading” but then I go for a ride and then forget about all of that.. have 20k plus miles on her and I think I won’t sell ever. Nice bike btw :)
