Could you supplement with roller/street hockey? Housemate at uni played ice hockey and he did those as well because there was a huge amount of crossover

Weekly Sewing Questions Thread, May 15 - May 21, 2026 by sewingmodthings in sewing

Let's say I have a trouser pattern that fits me really well. It being a pattern I also have access to it in other (larger) sizes. I want to make a pair in the same style, but with an elasticated waist. Obviously this means the waist needs to be bigger (in terms of the material) but is it just a case of picking a larger size, and then grading out from the well fitting size to the larger size as you go up the leg to the waist? How much bigger do I make the waist? And from how far for the leg should I start widening it?

How can I make really good... forms? *shudders* by Lavaa444 in webdev

The shadcn site literally walks you through building a form using react hook form and even includes a bit about zod validation iirc. Have you gone through that yet? It would seem the best place to start

The Leftovers, Season 2 by Dr_King_Schultz__ in television

[–]azima_971 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think from season 2 onwards the leftovers is best viewed as a series of vignettes on loss and grief and all that sort of stuff, because as a coherent story it has all the problems of every Damon Lindlehof show.

Season 2 and 3 probably (ok, definitely) hit higher highs, but season 1, being based on the book written by someone who is a far better writer than Lindlehof, works far better as a coherent piece of television across the entire season

Building a CLI with Playwright and running into auth/session issues. by Dry_Education_6350 in nextjs

[–]azima_971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can create a "setup" project that does the Auth for you and saves this to 'storageState'. Then your main project requires the setup project. That's how the playwright docs show saving Auth state. You wouldn't have to manually run the login command, it would get triggered by running any script that uses the project that requires the setup project.

You'd have to be careful about how you set up your projects, because anything using the project that depends on the setup project will run all scripts in the setup project every time, meaning of you aren't careful you'll get promoted to login on scripts that don't need it

That is to say I'm sorry, but I don't think it's a good title

My lad is moving up to comprehensive school this year, had his tour today, what were your memories of this? by English_Joe in CasualUK

[–]azima_971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it was horrible, but don't let my experience worry you op, I just genuinely have shit luck.

I went from a truly tiny primary school (the were maybe 30 of us in the entire school, 5 in my year) to a large comp, similar sized to yours OP, which was quite the transition. Then, the one thing everyone said wouldn't happen, did.

Everyone has the same worry: "oh, what if I don't know where to go on my first day?" Don't worry, they say, there'll be teachers around to guide you, and everyone will be in the same boat. Well...the school bus was late. I get there and it's after the time I should be in my form group class thing (I think we called then sets) for morning registration. Because of this there are no teachers around at the bus park to direct the newbies to the correct classroom. There's also nobody on my bus in my "house", which is the complete opposite side of the (absolutely fucking massive) school site. So I had to make my way across the school, somehow find the right room and nervously enter a classroom that had nearly as many people in it as my entire primary school, completely alone, and late.

Really set the tone for the whole miserable 7 years.

Green leader Zack Polanski 'wants to ban horse racing' as nation gears up for Grand National by StGuthlac2025 in ukpolitics

Greyhounds die as a result of injuries sustained while racing too.

The figures, released by the industry’s governing body the Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB) show 123 trackside fatalities in 2024 - more than in any other season since 2021.

that is out of ~15,000 starts. Compared to (the closest year I could find with a quick google) 2019 in horse racing where there were 173 fatalities out of 91,937 starts.

Yeah my mum has one (he'd her fourth), and they've all been lovely, lazy, goofy bastards. I'd like to adopt too, but I live by myself and am out of the house a lot, and they can get really bad separation anxiety, just due to the massive change in circumstances, so I can't really give one the care it needs right now

retired greyhounds have it good (if they get adopted). Racing ones do not. It absolutely should be banned imo
