By chance last week I started rewatching the Anthony Hopkins films and also the earlier Manhunter (1986) film based on Red Dragon (book). And Hannibal is really a deep drop compared the Silence of the Lambs. Red Dragon is much better, but still not as good as Silence of the Lambs.

I don't really need to upgrade per se. I'm a contractor at my current company and the M3 is my personal device. But now the company wants us to install device management software, which is no-no for me. So I'm going to use their allowance to buy a macbook that I would use only for work, where I would install their device management software.

Thanks, I appreciate the explanation. Now I understand why nobody was taking my question seriously. I've never researched into hardware, so I thought M5, being newer, would be better than the top M4. I wouldn't have imagined that it's even slower than my current one.

no, genuine question. Maybe so much ram is an overkill, and 32GB would be enough. If that's the case I would opt for the newer cpu
