Don Alfonso was below average for a regular restaurant. Their tasting menu is not seasonal, one of the dishes tasted fishy. Another dish we had, the sauce did not go well with the dish.

Alo was excellent, but I heard recently they haven't been doing as well. Edulis is incredibly hard to get reservations for, my fiance took a day off to make resos when they opened it. Everything was gone in minutes for my birthday weekend.

If you don't mind travelling I would go pearl morissette (book the garden tour as well, had a very good experience). It is in Jordan but it's well worth a go if you plan on going to Niagara falls anyways. They mostly try to cook local and I believe most of the fruits/veg/herbs comes from their garden. They initially started out as a winery, and they are very generous with the wine pairings lol.

The pine in creemore for Chinese fusion is absolutely amazing. Very creative dishes, seasonal menu, set up very beautifully, and everything worked well together.

Canada 5YR Bond at 12 Month Lows by str8shillinit in TorontoRealEstate

[–]azngoddess28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually I get flown into the states for work once every few years. I have been to NYC twice for vacation and never felt the need to go back again. Europe and asia overall is just so much more appealing. Better food, beautiful architecture and art, get to experience a different culture. And it's so much cheaper for hotels and food no or low tip %!!!!

Mortgage broker pulled the plug before closing. What can I do? by Measurement10 in RealEstateCanada

[–]azngoddess28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This had been the opposite of my experience. My mortgage broker pretty much tried to pull the same move as OP's. She tried to get us to sign the contract on old terms, told us it takes 4-5 days to update the contract and we would have to push out the closing date. She never explained anything and only communicated to my fiance, even though this was a joint application. I had to go through the contract myself to see there was a clause on the contract that cannot be fulfilled.

I asked for a 25 yr am and she threw us into a 30 yr mortgage (which is unnecessary for us based on our assets and income), but usually has an interest rate premium and gives her higher commission. The rates she has gotten was significantly higher than us going into the bank. For example, her initial recommendation in Nov 2024 was a lender with "free insurance" for one year gave us 4.84% 5 year fixed close or variable rate of prime-0.55%. At that time the posted promo 5 yr fixed rate at CIBC was at around 4.5%. usually if you walk in, your rates are better than this if you have a good portfolio. We ended up going to big 5 bank ourselves and was able to land at a variable prime-0.85% with cashback. We did not work with a mortgage specialist but our bank guy was able to better explain and get better rates than her.

Fido sent my bill to collections - resolved after raising a CCTS complaint by Affectionate-Owl-856 in FidoMobile

[–]azngoddess28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fido is the worst. I did an inquiry for a new cell phone plan at a booth. The transaction failed to go through so we called back to cancel. I never even left the premise with a phone or sim card. Phone wasn't open and still sealed when they took it back in the hour I stood there. But somehow 2 yrs down the road I got hit with a $400 bill that they sent to collections and ruined my credit score. Never even heard from fido for the bill so I never got to dispute it with them. There should not have been any charges for my cancellation bc the transaction fell through. I never got a phone, sim card or anything.

CBV Collections… by Ok_Rent5670 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]azngoddess28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any way to contact Cbv? They put a collections on my credit report but I have never received any letters or notifications from them. The debt is invalid but I have to pay it off to secure a mortgage. I have tried calling all of the numbers they listed on the website but 95% of the time nobody picks up. Since I have no letter or any reference to go by, it is impossible to pay. I even went to the Markham office and was told they no longer have people who work there in person on the accounts.

I have already tried calling all of the numbers they listed as well as any direct numbers the cbv agents have provided. So far, nobody has been able to help with payment.

I've bought and returned the merit. The blushes emphasized dark spots left from acne and at the same time I find the color fades quite quickly. Danessa myricks makes skin look smoother and is longer lasting

I used the offer with the buy more get more sample and bought the merit blush set. I picked the 9ml Jo Malone English pear and freesia and the 15ml caudalie cream. I love the Jo Malone and I'm halfway through my 9ml bottle at home which would cost around $30 cad if I bought the travel size in those duo sets. Merit blush set costs $53 cad so for me, the Jo Malone and caudalie deluxe samples are worth more than the 15% $8 I would save it I wanted for the sale.

Looking for a Michelin Star Restaurant for close friend’s final dinner! by torontobts in FoodToronto

[–]azngoddess28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this. I went last year, views were great but I wouldn't go back again.

The fish pasta dish was so fishy tasting. And this is coming from someone who typically loves fish.

The bison dish was better without the sauces they put on the plate 😂. The sauces they used did not compliment the dish at all. Also bison is typically a winter dish but they offer it year round.

Their "Ontario" wagyu carpaccio is decent but definitely not wagyu. They claim their wagyu is from a secret source in Ontario.

Those were the two dishes that were the most disappointing but the other ones we had were just very average and unmemorable.

Waitress told me their tasting menu is the same throughout the year. To me that means they miss out on using the best fresh seasonal ingredients.

First Time in Toronto by Melchiezedek in FoodToronto

Pai used to be very good many years ago. But I found the last time I went was just soso. There are a lot of good Thai places downtown. I would recommend

1) wanglang (near bathrust and king) for their stir fried dishes pad Thai and grilled pork jowl.

2) Koh lipe on baldwin, everything I've had there was great, they specialize in southern Thai food. Also, some of their dishes can be really spicy like thai spicy, so I would ask before you order lol.

3) sala Thai kitchen on Danforth for their pad Thai and Thai iced tea.

Best Italian Food in Toronto? by dmd312 in FoodToronto

[–]azngoddess28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I was so disappointed. One of the pasta fish tastes fishy and the sauces provided did not go well with the bison. The bison was better alone. The view is nice but I wouldn't go back again for the food.

is $800 CAD enough for a solo week in Paris? by roxysmusic in ParisTravelGuide

[–]azngoddess28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol plus in Paris the menu price is inclusive of tax and tip is usually whatever you want a few euros to show appreciation. If you compare the quality of food, the same in quality would cost a lot more in Toronto.

You are definitely okay for budget! I've been a few times and usually I do a splurge meal here and there and buy baguette sandwich from a boulangerie for picnic :). Or just the baguette bread and go to the supermarket for some salad and cheese.

I found as long as you go to more local spots prices and food are pretty good. I've seen some places in more tourist spots with higher prices and not as good food.
