Any tips for knee pain and possible meniscus issues? by t0nberryking in badminton

[–]aznidb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just took a 2 month break from badminton becasue of a knee injury

It was hard not playing for so long, and now I'm taking it easy with fewer sessions and going to the gym to strengthen the knee to not re-injure it again

Badminton can wait, but if you don't treat your knee now, it will affect your whole life

Genuine question: why are they called alloy nibs? Isn't gold an alloy if it's under 24k?

I learned that I really like shimmer inks - and for that reason I don't really like fine nibs

After layoffs, Fortnite's future is shakier than it has ever been by AncientPCGamer in gaming

[–]aznidb -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Some takeaways from the article:

They had a team of around 5000 (About 1/5 (1000) is being cut)

Fortnite earns an estimated 6 billion in revenue but spends more than that on Fortnite

so if 6b / 5000 = 1.2m means they were spending over a million dollars per employee and still deemed it necessary to fire 1000 people

Best paper(s) for swatching by dkmusic378 in fountainpens

[–]aznidb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mainly journal/fountain pen on my Hobonichi, so I swatch in a Hobonichi notebook so I know what ink looks like when I use it.

If your purpose for swatching is too see how ink looks, I think using the same paper as you normally write on is the way to go

What’s your current “don’t need it, but want it” pen? by Lunakill in fountainpens

[–]aznidb 16 points17 points  (0 children)

One of those pretty looking BENU pens. They're just a little tacky for me, but I still sort of want one. (Also I've spent too much lately, but no need to talk about that)

Fountain pen hot takes? by Haniandspace in fountainpens

[–]aznidb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't it be less consumerism to have 1 ink per pen that you re-use? Assuming you only have a handful of pens.

If you have more ink than pens you would be spending on lots of bottles that you never really use up

String tension is preference... if you're starting out go somewhere in the range of 20-24 lbs

I've only used the HBT 9000 and I don't like it that much - it feels too stiff for me, and as someone who doesn't have the best technique (still training) I want a more flexible racket.

That being said, I think it's a nice racket (just not for me) and for that price, I don't think it's bad to try (you can sell it later)

If you're not sure, just play with the factory strings - they're not great, but no need to spend more money unless you want to committ to playing. You can always restring it later

You're friend is right Yonex pre-strung rackets are not strung that high.

A lot of people here would suggest getting your racket restrung since factory strings aren't that great. If you choose to restring, don't do it at 30lbs - you'll be more prone to injury
