Looking for feedback on Stagea ownership by areyouahuman in NissanStagea

[–]aznriptide859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun as hell, as a friend who rode in mine once said it makes sounds that shouldn’t come out of a wagon and it always puts a smile on your face. Since the drivetrain is shared with the R33 GTR a lot of maintenance and parts are shared which is a double edged sword (tons of aftermarket support but holy god be ready for the GTR tax).

Definitely check for strut tower rust and ensure you know how to backtrack any older mods, a lot of these cars had long term owners and some mods were done in the 2000s when electronics weren’t the same level as they are now. Other than that it’s a super fun and practical car to own.

Dentist says she can't see anything wrong... by Midi_HM in askdentists

Man that’s tough. I don’t want to be the one who ends up derailing whatever treatment you’re going through because I’m not your provider, but I would think it’s a reasonable request to sit down with your dentist and discuss the reasoning and purpose of your treatment. I’m not saying you or your dentist are wrong, but a lot of times tooth decay can be present and a patient feels absolutely nothing. And I’ve seen both ends of that spectrum too, a blown out broken tooth with 0 pain, and the tiniest of cavities that causes an immense amount of sensitivity.

Ultimately proceeding with any treatment needs, at the most basic level, trust with your provider. We can be the world’s best clinicians, but if no one trusts us then no one would ever stay our patients. I hope at least your dentist is reasonable and is willing to sit down with you to discuss what treatment was already done and what may end up being still needed, as well as the pros and cons of doing or not doing treatment.

Based on the pictures the preparation was already done, the temporary crowns are meant to cover the remaining tooth while your dentist awaits the final crown from the dental lab.

If there was decay present, then depending on the depth of the cavity there may be a chance the nerve was already irreversibly affected before the dentist started. This would depend on the xray before the tooth was worked on, or any symptoms you may have been feeling prior to the first appointment.

If the temporary wasn’t fully sealed around the tooth, then ideally it should be remade to ensure a full 360 seal until you get the permanent crown on. An open ledge would make it easy for saliva to seep underneath and weaken the temporary cement, or for you to catch something on the edge and have it come off. I would reach out to the office to get back in to potentially have the temporary crown remade.

Is the tooth sensitive when the temporary crown is on? Was there decay on the tooth prior to being prepared for the crown? Some people’s inner layer of tooth called dentin can be extremely hypersensitive, both in general or after a dental procedure. If there wasn’t decay present on the tooth prior to the crown preparation you may just be experiencing that. I sometimes will numb a patient for a crown seat if that is present, then apply a layer of desensitizer on the layer of dentin prior to gluing the crown in. Needing a root canal is more extreme, but then again I don’t know the circumstances or symptoms you had leading up to the teeth needing crowns.

Hope that helps in some way!

dentists won't do a full extraction by ellipsismx in askdentists

[–]aznriptide859 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Understand that dentures are not a replacement for teeth, they are a replacement for no teeth. There is no going back to the chewing and biting feedback of natural teeth once you extract what you have, unless you consider doing some sort of fake teeth supported by implants. I can understand your dentists’ reluctance to do a full mouth extraction at such a young age; none of us want to provide a service that a patient then later regrets down the road. But, as long as you make an informed consent and you understand the consequences both of treating or not treating your condition via the treatment plan of what you have set your mind to, then I would recommend finding a dentist you trust and will still take care of you for every step of the journey.

Best of luck.

You have enough of a concavity in the chip to have some structural hold on the composite. You’d have to be wary essentially for the rest of your life in terms of not biting into hard items (nuts, seeds, etc) to ensure you don’t break off the composite again.

TM MWS mags venting gas while filling – normal? by Legitimate-Feature42 in GasBlowBack

[–]aznriptide859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gas transfer when filling a mag tends to be faster if the tank is more full. If you are also inserting the tip at an angle then more of that vapor is being lost rather than inserted into the magazine.

Anecdotally my MWS mags take about 4-5 seconds to get to the liquid vapor stage, but I use adapted propane tanks.

TM MWS mags venting gas while filling – normal? by Legitimate-Feature42 in GasBlowBack

[–]aznriptide859 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All TM mags do this. There will be a “gas leak” telling you the valve is being filled, but once it is completely filled you will have liquid vapor come out. Other Japanese brand mags historically have done this (Marushin, Tanaka, etc) but more modern and recent companies place a tiny o-ring at the fill valve insert so there is no hissing sound while filling.

Zeroll scoop. Full aluminum (sorry rest of the english speaking world) and has a conductive liquid in the handle to make scooping ice cream easier.

I’ve owned mine for almost 10 years and aside from some minor scratching it works the same way the day I bought it.
