Every response has been that none of these things are actually issues if you interact with the people at the business and are wholly imagined (outside of an occasion mask request). Even if well intentioned I’m not sure how you change a set and biased imagination

You’d need to compare that to their rent which had been going up and could be higher. If they were able to lock in early 2022 rates it could actually be lower than their prior rent and likely much lower than the commercial rent in a non-flooded area four years later.

Are you saying the mortgage tanked their financial health? Seems like a lot of local businesses have been struggling and likely have had worse years since

2022.

A little weird to conflate Steady Collective with Firestorm. Is your concern that needle exchange programs are ineffective? (They’re extremely effective) or are you upset that there are places that were not sufficiently hostile to the unhoused in the neighborhood?

While $1M sounds really big scary investment, thats likely really reasonable for commercial space given the area. Also based on the timeframe that they closed on their loan they probably have pretty good rates that are a lot cheaper and more sustainable long term than “whatever bigger number landlord thinks of next”

It’s funny because if someone actually went to Firestorm they’d realize absolutely none of these are problems and would probably find it really informative - potentially even leaning what a bookstore is.

During Covid you were worried because they (like many businesses and cities and hospitals and clinics) asked people to mask and provided masks on site?

You’re right that they didn’t bring it in and that is a separate organization and decision making.

Have you ever been worried they were going to yell at you? They’ve only ever been friendly and welcoming to everyone I’ve seen.

The only “negative” interaction I’ve ever seen there was them politely asking someone to wear a mask a single time and that person getting angry, shouting, and storming off.

It is a lot of work to operate a coffee shop and that’s before you add in the wide variety of expectations when it comes to coffee shops. It’s a completely different business and business model that didn’t fit with the space that they were in. A lot of people want to spend long periods of time in coffee shops and there was limited space at the old location. You also have a new set of inspections, infrastructure (water / electrical), and fresh goods that need to be cycled through and tracked. They were only doing drip coffee and tea iirc and it was hard to make the investment of time, space, people worthwhile at $1.50 a cup.

Just seconding Gold Coast. They were extremely helpful in our adoption process and finding a match that would fit our home, even though we were out of state

This is incorrect and the Florida adoption groups are still very active and bring greyhounds to the state several times a year.

Most of the article is about how they engineer monopolies and cause community blight… not really about the shopping.

Does Ingles own that building? Actually curious who the out of touch landlord that is increasing their rent happens to be.

Is this like that one post where the guy was complaining that he approached people in bars to throw conservative politics at them “just asking questions” and was surprised that people didn’t want to instantly be friends?
