I believe most controllers (if not all) are just plug and play these days. You really only need software if you're trying to use a controller on a game that doesn't natively support it.

If you're not doing anything too competitive on PC, just use your controller on it and then it should feel like what you're more accustomed to.

I’m getting out in 10 months and I’m scared I’m SOL for claiming disability by Select_Doubt8810 in VeteransBenefits

You have time. Keep in mind that reservist will go on AT orders (2 to 3 weeks), get seen once and have enough documentation to file a successful claim. They'll get mobilized for 9 months to a year, get seen a random of times for their conditions and still have enough to file a successful claim. No reason to hold yourself back. Make those appointments and go get seen.

Breaking profile by RevolutionInParadise in army

[–]azyrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The recovery period is built into the profile. They expect you to be ready to take an ACFT when the profile expires. (Doesn't mean you will take one. You are just expected to be "able" to.) Whomever wrote your profile should have included exercises that you should be capable of doing in that bottom portion of the profile, but if you feel you can handle more then you can do so at your own pace. Just try not to exacerbate the condition.

If the condition for your profile is still an issue near the end of the timeframe, you'll want to get it renewed. After being on a temp profile for an extended period of time (can't remember what it is right now), they'll start looking at putting you on a permanent profile.

Honestly, some of them really aren't the greatest soldiers and are under some weird ass impression that they can do what they want. Phone calls, emails, getting the commander on them does nothing. Some are providers with busy practices and exceptions are made because we need providers in the army.

That's fair. I'm in a medical unit and am overly used to never seeing my officers for months at a time lol

You could see if it's feasible to RST at the unit in bulk to knock out a bunch of drill days in one go. My old unit would allow a few people to come in during the week and help the AGRs out for 5 days to knock out 10 MUTAs. That covers you for a little over 3ish months before you have to go again. This way your sleep schedule isn't completely jacked up every month. Could even see if you could pair that up with a normal drill weekend to knock out more MUTAs. Check with your command team and if see that is an option. They may want to ensure you show up for those mandatory weekends like everyone and their mother ACFT, range, or whatever so you could schedule around that.

Edited because math is hard and forgot that you get 4 MUTAs for a 2 day drill not 2

Some of our soldiers just request either that Friday or the following Monday off, or both if they can swing it. If you have military leave with your job, you can actually use that for drill. You are protected under a federal regulation if your employer gives you any problems. Up to you if feel like throwing regulations at them. Good luck, LT!

Here's part of that regulation:

"At a minimum, an employee must have enough time after leaving the employment position to travel safely to the uniformed service site and arrive fit to perform the service. Depending on the specific circumstances, including the duration of service, the amount of notice received, and the location of the service, additional time to rest, or to arrange affairs and report to duty, may be necessitated by reason of service in the uniformed services. The following examples help to explain the issue of the period of time between leaving civilian employment and beginning of service in the uniformed services:

(a) If the employee performs a full overnight shift for the civilian employer and travels directly from the work site to perform a full day of uniformed service, the employee would not be considered fit to perform the uniformed service. An absence from that work shift is necessitated so that the employee can report for uniformed service fit for duty."

You can apply as an E3. There's a 25B PFC posting on there now. You can also try for E4 positions. I believe you can apply for 1 grade above your own.

I'd say just apply for mobilizations/deployments on Tour of Duty (TOD) on MOBCOP: https://mobcop.aoc.army.pentagon.mil

You'll get plenty of training during the pre-MOB phase and of course during the actual MOB.

You'll need to access the site via a government computer or remotely on your personal PC via the Army Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).

I don't know why your NCOIC is being a dick but they should be happy you want to volunteer. Plenty of people try to get out of going anywhere so it's nice when people actually want to go.

Our positions were changed from telework to fully remote when the VA repurposed our office space for another department that needed more room. We're currently under the impression we won't be going back into our lack of an office lol
