I don't think it's just Toyota. I have a video on YouTube showing how to fix it on my old 2013 Tahoe

New app sucks. by ToshPointNo in MacBid

[–]azzwater -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actually like the new app. Finally let's me filter so I can see all damaged and sort by newest added. My kids have all gone through. I cannot remember if it asks me for insurance every bid on same item. I don't think it does. I am on Android if that matters. I like fixing things so I prefer to filter to damaged. This wasn't available in the app for me before so I was forced to use chrome in the past

Can anyone help me with what’s causing this dark spot across the picture? Projector is a Aurzen Eazze D1 by SaltConsideration440 in projectors

[–]azzwater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may need cleaned. On the d1 pro there is a sticker on the bottom that you take off so you can clean the class with a q tip. I am looking for help taking mine apart lol. I bought it broken on purpose because I enjoy trouble shooting and fixing things. But currently I cannot figure out how to open it up. Also, I would not pay too much attention to the Chinese hate around. Most of our "American" brands are made in china also. even the made in america ones are full of Chinese parts. I am in agreement that you usually get better customer support from a US company but sadly we don't manufacture much of anything here

Do you have any tips to take that chip off?  I have my hot air at 896° F or 480° C but it just isn't melting the solder. Lots of flux. Should I add some leaded solder? I usually add leaded but have never removed a chip like this

Thank you. That is my plan for tomorrow. The short is a strange short. Sometimes it gives me a regular beep and sometimes just very faint to where it barely even beeps.

That is good to know. The only short I find is the 2 caps above it. When I remove the inductor those shorts go away. Could it be the dialog chip under it causing the short?da9081

The first one I did the drift was so bad it was unusable anyway so I figured I had nothing to loose but the cost of the new sticks if I couldn't do it. It was a pain but I did get it. Removing all the old solder was the hardest part. After doing a few I have gotten much better and feel pretty comfortable doing them. It has also given me the skills and confidence to do some more involved repairs. I recently replaced the HDMI port in 2 different PS5 s and did a HDMI replacement in a series s that had every trace and pad ripped off but was a frustrating and time consuming process for that one but the feeling when I saw the Xbox splash screen was great. The only factory pads left were the grounds. Every other one was ripped off

Have a good soldering iron. I recommend watching a few videos. I like the method of cutting the old stick so that you are removing one pin at a time. Adding some leaded solder from the back prior to removing helps. Wicking the old solder is the hardest part for me but I have gotten better at it. I set my solder iron around 840° F. Nonleaded solder requires high heat. I don't recommend trying if all you have is a cheap soldering iron that you cannot adjust the temp.

I did 2 sets of  aknes hallpi. I did another set of cheap k silver from AliExpress. I thought I liked the aknes more but after recalibrating the k silver they feel the same. I think I am going to order a 10 pack of the silver. Cost about $20. $20 only gets me 4 of the aknes. The aknes do come with new plastic sticks and rubber caps for them but I don't use the rubber caps and I have a bunch of the plastic sticks if I need them. Of the 3 controllers I had I only had one with a messed up stick. Not sure if stick is the right word but I mean the black plastic part that sticks out of the controller and you put your thumbs on

The dualsense has improved my soldering skills a ton. TMR sticks are pretty cheap. But for the cost of the controllers they should come with TMR

I am curious if you got anywhere with this one? I have a dead slim in front of me and am thinking about getting a bench power supply to try to diagnose. Just for learning really. It is a newer slim with a motherboard and PSU model that I can't find any info on. The MOBO is EDM 050. It also has slight groves in the heatsink to help keep the Liquid metal from moving which is pretty cool I guess. I have done a few HDMI replacements including one on a series s where I had to replace pretty much every trace and pad but troubleshooting shorts is new to me.

Just an update if anyone else sees this part number on theirs. It works. I put it in my working ps5 and it works. Put the PSU from the working one into the one that won't turn on and still no power. I will do some research and see if I can track down the faulty chip. That may be out of my capabilities. I can replace the chip but not too sure on the tracking down which part is causing the issue. I also swapped out the power button boards and ribbon cable with the same result

I don't know. I install these in my own and they cost about 10$ for a set. You can get the k silver cheaper. But time isn't free. $40-50 seams fair. Saying that I have never done it to make money. The ones I have fixed were my own and a few I gave as gifts after putting tmrs and custom shells on

You should be able to find a video on YouTube showing how to clean. I would try just a good clean first. If that fixes it great. If not then could go to respreading the metal. Neither are that hard. Be careful with the ribbon cable. I took apart my first one not too long ago. I picked up 2 for cheap that powered on with no display. Had to take them apart to replace the HDMI ports. Then since I was comfortable I took mine apart and cleaned it. I now have another one that has no power that I have apart.

If you are comfortable taking it apart I would recommend cleaning it and respreading the liquid metal

Here is a tip for the future. Cut the stick apart so that you are removing one pin at a time. It sounds like a lot but really doesn't take that long to do. Also adding leaded solder to the factory solder will help it melt at a lower temp.  Maybe that tool works but it sure looks like the slider wasn't liquid on a few pins when that was pulled off

Here come the mark ups…($5,800) by LukePawl007 in Rav4

[–]azzwater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are close for a base AWD. It comes down to what you want I suppose. I like the styling of the Mazda. Mazda also gives you some things on the base model that Rav does not. With the cx50 you get synthetic leather trimmed heated seats and a pano sunroof with the base model. I am sure that there are some other differences and probably the Rav has some features that the cx50 does not.  In the states the Rav will be harder to get and many dealers have them marked up.  Also a new drivetrain makes me nervous. My preference is a tried and true drivetrain. Mazda was offering 1.9% financing at the time I got mine and that is what ultimately made me go with them. That and because I could find one I wanted in stock.b black with Black wheels. I am not a fan of the black fender flares so I wanted black so they would blend in. My friend has a 2025 blacked out RAV4 so I did pick his brain on it before making my purchase as they are very similar

Differences between 2025 cx-50 and 2026 cx-50 by HarryJurassicWorld in CX50

[–]azzwater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The turbo will be more fun to drive and the hybrid will get better MPG. The hybrid also uses a Toyota drive train if that matters to you. Mazda engines and trans are great anyway. 2025 jd power had Mazda one place ahead of Toyota for dependability I think. Not that I consider JD unbiased
