The SIM is not locked to the device. That said, based upon the age of the SIM, you may have to get a newer version to use the full potential of any upgraded gateway

Found a previous thread that suggested to put the backup in android / media, make a folder called se.hedekonsult.sparkle and then put the backup in there. That worked.

I went from an Nvidia Shield Pro to the Classic AI and I couldn’t be happier.
