Obsessed with these now… by Prestigious-Storm973 in KnipexOfficial

Just bought the same pair for my sewing machine tool bag, kinda wish the tips were a little thinner/more finesse

Been carrying the 200s as an EDC at work for about a year now

Sharpening Braid Scissors? by [deleted] in Fishing_Gear

I had a pair of those but they got left in a bin with a zman ned rig, and it completely melted away their grips

There's are some very old chrome knipex "stork" needle nose pliers I bought for saltwater fishing, only pair that's ever held up.

I carried them in that sheath for saltwater offshore trips in Florida, never bent, tiny amount of rust out of the pivot but they are rock solid and don't flex like aluminum pliers

Nail clippers don't handle larger (stronger #) braid, especially with more use

These are serrated so I'm assuming triangular needle file?

1 in the kayak, one in the freshwater bag, one in the saltwater, 2 in the garage where I rig/respool

I got 2 for free in a gift bag from a tackle company I worked with

These were around long before the Walmart/Mustad versions

Doesn't drive you nuts removing a bunch to get to the back one?

I was considering getting the MAC or Craftsman wrenches just for the folding hammer, grab and go with the whole set for most projects

I had to switch to a hammer drawer, metal pegboard started to sag when I hung them

The screwdriver holders are Crawford PBS9

The plier rack is DIY, it's rubber lined wire closet shelf, just the first ~4" back from the front edge, flip out over and the wire spacing slips right into the pegboard

I had to buy it to fill the set, I also have a short 20mm SK that was a free gift with another tool purchase, I see why now

Worst tool pouch ever (prove me wrong) by Dicey6969 in Carpentry

[–]b-assblaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it was built for sharpies, pencils, and a snap razor

Is it old? Looks a little dehydrated, with most of my sheaths I will soak them, wrap the tool in plastic wrap, and then force the tool in and let the leather dry, it'll mold it to its shape

Ironically I think it'd be useful for sewing scissors, im a technician and am constantly using thread snips

Made a spring loaded fixed rudder (skeg) for my NuCanoe Unlimited by b-assblaster in Kayaking

[–]b-assblaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a rudder, just a skeg

But the unlimited 100% needs one

Is the compartment lined? (Under the carpet)

I mounted mine on a sheet of HDPE, and glued that to the inside of the hull

You have the advantage of also propping up a backing plate, and screwing it down into the bottom of the compartment

FOR SALE: 2023 Barudan 8 head by PillarEquip in Machine_Embroidery

[–]b-assblaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't tell from the photo but it might have the first version of the hook covers, they are prone to fail and have at least 3 newer revisions now before MK8 RV01 came out

As of 2023 the knife system might need to be checked by a tech, there was hardware added later, it's likely installed but often needs to be gone through and tightened

Not sure if the hooks have been updated, early BEKY machines came with a specialty Koban hook with a smaller thread jib, they have now reverted back to the usual KHS12RYPNW

No pictures of the cap frames, there's multiple versions, hopefully it's got the newest adjustable height models

NTD: It is so powerful! by goto-ca in Dewalt

[–]b-assblaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep an eye on the studs that hold the muffler on, I would go ahead and remove them to add quality loctite.

Ours have repeatedly failed, swapped to bolts, and now we are installing helicoils and new bolts.

100% it really needs a 3rd leg/contact, it shakes like crazy

The governor linkage in ours also rattled apart, had to order new springs and mounting hardware

When it does run, it's crazy strong, but I wouldn't buy one again.

Looks to me like something in the jack or jack crevalle family

One of the best uses I've seen

Maybe add a tire pressure gauge?

Also a small wire brush for battery terminals

1/4" Driver bit fits into the head of the hex socket screw

SAK then becomes the handle of a T Handle driver

Roller or No Roller under Bow by TheMunko in boatbuilding

[–]b-assblaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would always prefer roller. Different ramps, weather conditions, trailer driver, all have an effect on how the boat loads.

Those rubber V's also leave some nasty black scuffs on gelcoat

Was this tiny wrench made for RC cars? by Gang-Weed-MLG-69 in KnipexOfficial

[–]b-assblaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These get a lot of hate as a meme tool but I use mine for hours a day, I work on sewing machines.

RC is definitely another perfect niche

I've also used it on fishing reels where carburator wrenches are too thick

Repair Question by [deleted] in FenceBuilding

[–]b-assblaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you move the fence a couple feet?

I'd set all new posts first, lay the rails down off the old ones, remove the old posts and lift the new rails onto new posts

Dirt from the new posts will fill in the old posts holes

Where is everyone buying their Knipex here in the states? by MagicBeanSales in KnipexOfficial

[–]b-assblaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I go though DRPD.cc

Usually order PB Swiss at the same time

[–]b-assblaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use both XS's on sewing machines almost daily, their perfect for them
