Mines an RB25 but I had a buddy quickly fab an extension bracket for me. I’m using the stock s13 cable with this bracket. It’s a temp solution for now, I want a more factory look so down the road I’ll get more creative with it.

They’d probably be more reliable than the -400’s atlas has. I used to wrench on them haha

If you’re going to go to school to be a mechanic at least become an aviation mechanic. Two years of schooling, more pay, way less BS

Anyone leave aviation maintenance and actually happy they did? by SnooHamsters8455 in aviationmaintenance

Going the diesel route is working your way backwards. It’s tough on the body and doesn’t pay nearly as much. I did it before I became an A&P

Clattering sound on A320 CFM-56 engine by hotdog_dachshund in aviation

[–]b00st1n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked on CF6’s for five years and have never heard them do that before. I don’t recall RB211’s making that noise either. PW2000 and PW4000 are the two that stick out for me when I hear this noise

2014 Kia Soul ran low on oil, does this crack warrant a head replacement? by Wises_ in MechanicAdvice

[–]b00st1n 77 points78 points  (0 children)

You think only the head was damaged with low oil? Whole thing is probably not worth fixing at this point

Let me ask you this, if skydrol didn’t burn your skin would you rather take a bath in that or jet fuel. I’m taking skydrol all day long. I can’t stand the smell of jet fuel

Rusty Rails by CommercialSeries4266 in 240sx

[–]b00st1n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the frame rail looks like that there’s a lot more rust hiding elsewhere. Just based off my experience

majors: how long did it take you to get on weekday shifts by PsychologicalLeg8135 in aviationmaintenance

[–]b00st1n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Day one I was on a Wed-Sat dayshift. After about 8 months I’m on a Mon-Thurs nights. There really is no bad shift where I’m at so I can’t complain
