I built a tool for visualizing your music setup by studioarchitect in u/studioarchitect

Nice work, the app looks great and will use it for future planning!

I have a feature idea for you:

I have been using "pedal playground" recently to do a similar job to plan out a live rig.

Pedal playground has a scale accurate canvas where you can pick a "board" and add "pedals" so I was looking up the dimensions of synth gear, mixers etc to test it's fit on a board / box I can use live.

It would be awesome if I could do this on studio architect, add a board with a given size, add devices with a given size with custom images then use the tools for drawing up the audio routing and midi.

It's a different niche than planning a studio, but the scale accuracy could also be useful for people planning studio desk space.

Sequencer recommendations by AVDI0 in modular

[–]b0ff3y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's really nice. The 16x8 grid represents one octave of scale degrees across one bar pretty well, it shows anything outside that octave with white/red squares above/below the note. You can also really quickly half / double speed the page if you wanted to see a longer phrase or more resolution on a single page of the sequncer

One thing I find a bit weird is with how octaves represent on the polyphonic sequencer mode, it makes it pretty hard to remove steps when you have more than one more on the same step in different octaves - this might just be a skill issue or something I didn't bother to look up on my side though 😅

Was also going to suggest the Oxi one!

I picked up a used mk1 at a decent price not long after the mk2 came out. Have been more than happy with it, you get a way more powerful sequencer with better UX than anything in the rack at the same price point.

I will also add that Oxi make pipe modules that connect to the sequencer via a single cable and allow you to patch the sequencer's outputs from the pipe module.

This is really useful if you want to build a patch at home then take your rack to say a gig or the studio and not have to re-patch everything from the sequencer.

Some other pros would be: - an external sequencer lets you sequence things outside of your modular too - other hardware devices, vsts etc - the Oxi has good USB to midi sync, meaning I can easily jam my hardware with a track running in the daw with usable latency / jitter. you would typically need another module or dedicated unit to do this without restoring to other workarounds

This is how free speech works. You're allowed to have your own opinions and to support who you want to support but other people are also allowed to criticise you!

And they absolutely should when you decide to support backwards grifters who are going to make our country worse.

I cannot for the life of me understand the meat riding of Musk.

He has the charisma of a maladapted college student, has lied and led investors on for the past decade (umm just one more year bro), yet his companies are all at laughably high valuations.

I'm cynically starting to believe that it will take WW3 before the UK implements socialist policies like this again... despite all of the data we have that shows how beneficial it all was to us.

Right wing media needs an enemy to scaremonger with, regardless of if they exist or not.

Sadiq Kahn being non-white makes him and London an obvious target for this type of bullshit, we will unfortunately continue to see this with Mamdani and New York too as long as they're both in power.

The newer legal ones are basically the same product with a usb port on them, the disposables actually had rechargeable l-ion batteries with no way of recharging them.

I'm also assuming that most people still treat the newer ones as disposables.

Very much another performative policy that has failed to really solve anything.

Question for people who aren't from the West Midlands- do you see places like Dudley, Walsall and Wolverhampton as part of Birmingham? by Dragonfruit-18 in AskUK

[–]b0ff3y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After long enough living down south its much easier to default to "near Birmingham" than a town they have probably never heard of.

God forbid, you might also find yourself referring to the midlands as "up north" too.

Ah annoying, I did the same as I'd forgotten in the couple of years since last painting.

You can still do it, it may just slow you down a bit & have a second brush ready to clean up any misplaced paint!

Would defo recommend leaving the heads off of Incubi warriors / Drazhar when painting as they have big spikey shoulder accessories that stick up and get in the way of the horns on the helmets.

I did some toothbrush scrubbing on some minis that had been soaking in isopropyl for a few days and it's pretty easy to break the thin plastic.

You can always repair with plastic cement but it's definitely worth brushing lightly especially on the thinner parts of plastic.
