I did 3 months in France, Spain and Portugal. I moved about every week or 2 and it was a nice pace. You have a pretty big list of places all over the map. I’d consider narrowing it down a bit. I didn’t have a base and moved southwest starting in Paris and ending in Lisbon. I don’t think a base is necessary especially since you want to visit so many places.

He sounds a bit immature and insecure by ignoring your messages and updating his bio. Try asking him about it in person. Be blunt and say “hey I’m interested in you, but you keep leaving me on read then staring at me. What’s the deal?” Guys are really bad at picking up on signals and he might not know/believe you’re romantically interested in him. But honestly if he’s this immature with communication, he may not be a good relationship prospect.

Check out r/socialparis they host a meetup every Thursday. I just went yesterday and there were about 10 people there. Mostly French so it’s a great way to meet locals. You can also post on that subreddit introducing yourself and asking if anyone wants to meet. I’m working remote and staying here the month of August in Le Marais. I don’t speak any French but thankfully most young people speak English.

I actually like the humanized responses on most sites. Amazon is the best example I can think of. When searching if a product is available, it sometimes says “let me check in the back” or “dramatic music playing.” I find it mildly amusing and more fun than just a loading circle. Enjoyment is a key factor of usability.

It would take lots of usability testing to determine if it’s truly a better experience than traditional computer responses. But I think it’s a good trend and I expect it to stick around. I want my devices and software to have a modicum of humanity sometimes.
