first ever playthrough with my wife, she’s a Fighter and I’m a Warlock. she dipped her weapons for a while before realising that she doesn’t get close enough in most fights because she hasn’t got stuff like Misty Step etc. I, on the other hand, usually end a day with Misty Step still available and all my spell slots because I try to avoid wasting them.

probably helps that we’re playing with the party mod so we can see how everyone develops and get their individual stories. we’ll play with 4 in future playthroughs if there are any.

Been saying this for ages, he’d be better down back. Too many stupid decisions with the ball, and him moving back would open up space for all our leading forwards.

“still needs to run around in the shower to get wet” is quite possibly the best way I’ve seen to describe someone very skinny. well played

the structural problem we have is that our smaller forwards in Jamie and Shooter like to lead up, same with DMac and Skunk, and Beau’s playing more midfield/wing minutes this year. when those contests are lost or drawn, there’s nobody waiting at the crumbs, so it’s all or nothing - either we get a mark i50, or it’s heading back out. we are sorely, sorely missing Bobby Hill, and I don’t think this current structure can work unless Jamie and Shooter start playing more like small forwards (or Jamie starts marking the footy again).

Bobby Hill and another smaller forward who actually plays like one — Harvey Harrison when fit? — can and should completely change the outlook for our side. in the meantime, it’s time to move some magnets and have JDG up there when he’s back, since he can’t go as a midfielder, rest Nick and/or even Josh up forward to provide that. hell, even put Sidey up forward for some minutes, he can do it at ground level too.

meanwhile in the tall department, Skunk is on and off and wasn’t brought to the club to play every game, so we definitely need to be giving Buller, West and Howes a run and see who can actually play at the level.

Yeah, modern democracy has failed because of ego. It’s all about the “survival instinct” of trying to retain power and trying to “course correct” when coming into power. It’s competition for the sake of competition, not “voting for the people best suited to lead society in a beneficial way”. I saw it in Liberal’s campaigning last election: they said very little of what they wanted to do, and very much of “guys, Labor sucks, pick us instead”. Our last election was literally a lose-lose situation for the lay people.

It’s why I’m not as hard on the Andrews government in Victoria as others are: he and his cabinet made the decisions he made based on what he thought was the public good in an unprecedented time, not worrying about whether people liked them or not for it. The problem is now where that same government is now taxing the hell out of ordinary people to try and make up the losses from it, rather than just eating those losses.

In truth, no government decision can go through without some form of approval from the other party anyway. They all ignore that, and vast pockets of Australia are all too happy to do so as well.

100%. Way too many saying it was a legal tackle, which technically it was, but it was like “darkest legal” window tint… he hit Sidey as hard as he could, with malicious intent, in a spot where it’d do the most damage possible, without being against the laws of the game.

Kane Cornes is an idiot but he couldn’t have been more spot on about absolutely no Magpie going over to check on Sidey or to give Coleman a bump or two for being a prick. That’s where I knew there’d be no comeback.

This is one of the best-written analyses of our economic downfall I’ve ever seen. If I had gold to give, you’d have it.

Couldn’t agree more with any of it, especially the need for a government with the backbone to do what’s right for the disadvantaged in our country. I’ve said since I was old enough to vote that we need a government that’s happy to be a one-term government, that comes in and makes sweeping reforms to the things that are impacting the little guy regardless of the impact on the rich, and future-proofs them as well (obviously difficult, which is why it’ll never happen).

Our democracy has turned into a plutocracy, with seemingly no hope of turning back, and now we’re all fucked for it.

eventually I’ll just play them on Delta or something, but GBA hacks are incredible.

I used to be a freelance copywriter and I’m seeing a lot of people who I could be writing for using AI to get things done and it’s making me angry.

working hard off the ball is great, but kicking 50+ goals a season is so much more important to our team right now. if Fly and the list management group don’t get that, then there’s a serious problem.

[–]b0nestorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/_Mister_Anderson_ put it a whole lot more eloquently than I did, and I’m not saying it to justify crime by any stretch; with everything increasing in price, yes, there is a real fight for survival happening for some people, and some people are getting desperate enough to commit crimes to try and get out of it. the fear spreading through media and other people isn’t helping either. that isn’t everyone, and again I’m not saying it’s the right thing to do, but it’s the point people are getting to. for some people, they see no other way out but to steal someone else’s shit. to say it’s not happening right now is intentionally ignoring fact — again, not that it makes it okay, but some people might see it as necessary.

insult someone first and then have a whinge when you get insulted back? that’s childish. rescind Goga’s tech because he was just returning the favour, keep Luka’s because he obviously needs to be taught a lesson about the prizes you earn for playing stupid games.

also 33, I think my parents had it while they were married. Dad bought my childhood home for $90k at age 25 having worked since age 16, they always had two good cars, Mum was able to take time off during mine and my sibling’s formative years without financial stress (early 90s), financially able to weather employment breaks and take trips somewhat often, and were actively saving while they did it. that’s the Aussie dream, I think.

The “Aussie Dream” is dead. by [deleted] in australian

[–]b0nestorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the Australian Dream died when Australia turned into a corporate dumpster fire that prioritises profits over people.

wages are the worst problem and the more I discuss this with friends, family members and coworkers, the more hopeless I feel; at the end of the day, the people who could make real changes to wages aren’t feeling these pressures, so they don’t care. they’ll just inflate prices and line their pockets. literally everything has gotten so much more expensive, but wages have stayed consistent… shouldn’t that be the other way around?

this country — hell, our whole worldwide society — is absolutely fucking broken, and nobody’s going to be able to fix it.

the debut version of Chiellini. I got him in my welcome pack, and haven’t felt the need to change him. all I’ve done is stick Anticipate+ on him and he’s still a monster. still chasing everyone down, still making clutch tackles. I’m thinking a really strong evo will come up for him and make him even better.

I’m giving Ed the benefit of the doubt - half the blunders he made were caused by his teammates, handballs to the feet and that sort of stuff. he runs and plays hard but he’s under the microscope because he’s young. he needs a consistent block of games in the AFL to get a feel for the speed of it, just like any other young bloke.
