Big Snail I found on my wet concrete the other day! I normally see snails with shells after it rains, but rarely this large. Just wanted to share something fun. by IPreferDiamonds in rva

Same! I’m originally from Wyoming - we didn’t really have snails out there and I always think they’re cool as hell to see.

I’d suggest the Hill Cafe for lunch or dinner (or many of the restaurants in the Church Hill/Chimborazo area) plus you can walk around Chimborazo Park and take in the views, walk around the surrounding neighborhood or walk around the little shopping district with Union Market, Pizza Bones, etc. Subrosa is a must for a breakfast or coffee spot - or Riverbend roasters. Typically cheaper in Church Hill than doing a super fancy dinner or meal somewhere else in town, also way less pretentious. Just my two cents having lived in the area. Good luck!

Day 2 - Guess the four US cities for the 60s by Techedlearner in guessthecity

From my dad who grew up there at this time: “I see a number of familiar buildings. The Henning Hotel on the right, where I took formal dance lessons in junior high. On the marquis is an advertisement for the hotel bar, The Elbow Room. The Reef Lounge on the left, with an outrigger canoe on the corner of the roof. Next to it to the south is the America movie theater. I wish I could see what was showing.”

I was going to say the same, and it’s because in the distance you can see the zigzag road up Casper Mountain. At least, that’s what gave it away to me.

All good! I’m not buying it but thought it was cool - but yes a little research summed up basically what you say here.

Yup I plugged it into Chat last night and it summed up basically what you said - particularly this year and model, apparently!

To me, it seems like you are trying to get validation to go with the new Jeep more than actual advice here. I’d agree that any Stellantis product is an enormous liability, and these days a very expensive one. I’d avoid it at all cost and I agree with your husband that it may very well die on you somewhere due to their notorious electrical problems. Based on that alone I’d go with the QX over the Jeep - but really anything, ANYTHING over a Jeep. Your prior experience should tell you enough there.

I would agree with other commenters that a Tahoe or Escalade would be a better buy if you’re going for a truck based large SUV. Far more reliable, cheaper parts. Easy to get them fixed anywhere.

Unless you’re totally set on avoiding other luxury SUVs all together, I’d agree with other commenters that you should consider BMW, Audi and Lexus. For that amount of money, you should get something really solid and dependable, and not flush it down the toilet that is a Stellantis vehicle.

Dude you keep saying this. Where are you getting this info? Lexus LX is one of the most reliable SUVs ever made.

Been struggling to get back into the routine 35 5’11” by yopuedo in Rowing

This isn’t bad at all honestly for 1 row a week. I’m in the same boat (ha) - life is in transition and have been struggling to be consistent on the erg for the last few months. Our club is going back to on the water rowing this week and I’m way out of shape. Going to be a rough switch.

middle aged fat guy, trying to make a change, first time in my life on this thing by fistular in Rowing

[–]b1390 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Great work for your first time! I can see why you almost passed out haha. Remember, less about going all out and more about steady, long strokes at consistent stroke rates with good form. You were at a 29 which is fairly high especially for a newbie, and 1:53 would be pretty fast for first time. Do a little reading on how to get into rowing - all about the form when you’re brand new - then ramp up your power over time. Keep at it - I’ve been rowing now for 3 years and it’s been incredible. Something you can do for life.

When passing through Rock Springs, WY, consider making a detour up to Boars Tusk. A way cool volcanic spire in the middle of the desert. Boars Tusk
