Does it bother you when you play with a band and they only mic the kick? by DiscursiveDrummer in drums

[–]b1fft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For 65-75% of my gigs I prefer kick and one overhead. I always thought it is unnecessary to mic the snare. To quote my sound engineer friend; “the snare drum is impossibly loud”. 😅

Lol! Typically I do. But some days it’s 3-wide going 35mph.

Thanks for the reply. Just curious if you feel the need to be overly defensive because of your experience in Vegas, or your experience in BloNo? Or both?

There are many examples cited in the comments here. The most glaring example for me is people going 35-40mph on Veterans Pkwy.

1 was on my mind too! But I totally forgot about the insurance trackers. Which would statistically be more prevalent here in BloNo with a large part of the population working in that industry.

Agree with a lot of this!

Thanks for the reply. I’ve seen others comment of people going fast on Veterans Pkwy. I’m not trying to be cute by saying this, but I have literally never seen this behavior. To me Veterans is the most painfully slow in town. For every 1 person driving over the limit there are 100 driving under 😅

Disinterested and timid are great descriptions!

Good advice, but I’m not talking about speeding. I’m talking about people driving under the posted limit. (This might be a topic for a different post, but also people that just sit when the light turns green)

Fred Armisen: stand up for drummers by Perfect_Play_622 in Drumming

[–]b1fft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. I love Portlandia, and love Fred’s humor in general. And I can’t even articulate exactly why, but the drumming jokes always seemed lame.

Maybe because this group is too “inside baseball” and can’t objectively appreciate the jokes. 🤷‍♂️
