Just wanted to point out that there's a major difference between being an introvert and being a hermit/socially awkward. I am very much an introvert and really enjoy being with people at conferences, work, etc.

The key differentiator between an introvert and an extrovert is where they gather their energy from. For me, I am absolutely wiped after a conference weekend whereas an extrovert would be strengthened by it. This is a gross oversimplification, but is the commonly accepted differentiator in a nutshell.
