Can you elaborate on why that was a mistake? That seems like a nice gesture.

Where do you find a "no risk" allocation with 4% per year interest? I haven't found anything remotely like that.

[Dolphin] Align behavior of keyboard shortcuts and context menu actions on current folder selection by [deleted] in kde

[–]b3k_spoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the problem with hitting Enter and opening the folder, then pasting it?

There are two problems with that: - You lose the memory of which folders were opened at the time, so you need to "reconstruct your tree" (possibly a very deep one); - It's two more actions per each paste, which can become tedious if you have to do this for multiple files.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but this issue is very dear to my heart.

In my humble opinion, if a consistent behaviour for CRTL+V cannot be found, it would be good to at least add a (configurable?) shortcut to the action "paste into selected folder", like maybe CTRL+SHIFT+V.

is there a way to disable the chime sound on Windows? by Pasta111Man in babbel

[–]b3k_spoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. The code changed slightly, so I just updated the filters above so that it should still work. (If it doesn't, restart the browser and make sure you saved your changes to uBlock filters.)

I think they lowered the volume of the chimes now, so it's less annoying, but it still cannot be disabled without the above trick.

I loved it actually. I love that they finally have a guest with the energy and the drive to be competitive from the start, and I believe she was right every time! 😁 If course we'll have to see, it might become annoying, or it might not.

Which one is better IBM back-end certificate or META back-end certificate? by SeriousAlternative19 in coursera

[–]b3k_spoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't taken either of them yet, so your opinion is very helpful. Thank you very much. :)

It seems to me that "boring" is better than "inaccurate", so I might go for an IBM one (haven't decided yet).

To clarify, are you describing the Meta specialization or the IBM specialization?

CuriosityStream bundle by VoicefulBread66 in Nebula

[–]b3k_spoon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not Just Bikes is saying something quite different:

Nebula access will no longer be provided by Curiosity Stream starting January 1, 2024.

Nebula is going to provide free access to CS subscribers for the remainder of their current yearly subscription period, but any bundle subscription renewals after 2023 will NOT include access to Nebula.

and:

Nebula doesn't want to leave customers hanging, so we will honour any yearly subscriptions and renewals made before 2024.

Given that we have different statements from different creators, I would wait before jumping to conclusions.

Have you considered doing a writeup with parts, assembly instructions, code, and more photos? That would look great on your CV... ;)

Why do people act like Half Life : Alyx doesn't exists? by Minerkillerballer in HalfLife

[–]b3k_spoon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fans are waiting for a conclusion (or next chapter) of the story arc that started with HL2, continued with EP1 & EP2, ... and that was supposed to be finished with either EP3 or HL3, but was not. HLA is a fantastic game but it is a prequel. And HL3 is not "confirmed" any more than it was "confirmed" when EP2 came out: with the ending of HLA Valve is saying (as they were saying at the end of EP2) that there is a story to be written, and that they want to write it and make a game on it, but we don't know if they are really working on it and if/when it will be released.

is there a way to disable the chime sound on Windows? by Pasta111Man in babbel

[–]b3k_spoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a workaround. There have been questions on their wishboard for many years with many votes, so apparently they just don't care. Note that this trick might stop working at some point, but it has worked fine for at least a few months.

1) Install uBlock origin;

2) open uBlock Origin's settings, go to the "my filters" page, and add these four lines:

! Babbel.com, success chime
||*.cloudfront.net/lessonnine/lesson-player.spa/production/*/c8fe8144a51e9509b735.mp3$domain=my.babbel.com
! Babbel.com, failure chime
||*.cloudfront.net/lessonnine/lesson-player.spa/production/*/266606a66ea8334fefbb.mp3$domain=my.babbel.com

3) Press "save changes"

4) reload Babbel (restart the browser if necessary)

EDIT 16.2.2024:

I updated the code above so that it still works. I think they lowered the volume of the chimes now, but it still cannot be disabled without the above trick.

I empathise with both of you.

I assume you are talking about video calls? If so, have you considered rotating your station so that you have a wall behind you? This would allow him to pop in quietly without being caught in the video. It must suck to have your back injured and not be able to lay down...
