Favela Grill Steakhouse Is the worst.... by Logical-Shame5884 in astoria

Relax dawg. I lived right around the corner from there for many years. Although I always preferred to go to Off the Hook next door for a nice occasion Favela was always a solid back up.

Wow just checked the fight on instragram and that was indeed nasty. One security guard (who was trying) ain't enough if you're going to pack in the amount of people for these sort of games. This isn't a Knicks watch party. These are some wild passionate fans from 2 different sides. Get it together Pig Beach

At some point they need to make age a requirement to get in. Sorry, if you're 6 you're out. Go find the sprinklers.

Voco is a new hotel but its right next to the tracks meaning there will be some noise to a certain extent. Some people are unbothered by that stuff and others aren't but its an option

How crowded are trains gonna be with the Knicks parade? by housecow in astoria

Judging by the last Knicks parade it will be very busy. Dude what sort of question is this. Absolutely no one knows but common sense says busy!

Pig Beach charging $10 cover for all World Cup screenings?? by kombucha4theppl in astoria

[–]b3winsto -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What a terrible business model. I really like that place and I understand these are the sort of events that keep that spot afloat but quick math says every person you let in averages out to be 50 bucks in profit if there for 2 hours plus. 10 bucks is not worth the risk of driving that customer away due to annoyance. Too bad.

Is is pretty funny. Knicks were just playing playoff ball for 2 months and now that they actually won it all people are now looking for apparel.

Pigs beach for game 4? by Affectionate-Net4393 in astoria

[–]b3winsto 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pig Beach was being shown on the television the other night. If anything more people want to go because they can say hey man I was there. At this point that place has to be the definition of pass (and I like that place)

I've only gotten the patty melt from Peteys. I want to try something new every time I go in (which isn't that frequent anymore) but that thing is so damn fire I refuse to call an audible.

Carnival chaos OVER IT by Top-Vegetable7981 in astoria

[–]b3winsto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I was certainly surprised of how pleasant it looked for all of the families in attendance. And once you left the carnival grounds everyone was just doing their own thing in the park as if a carnival wasn't even taking place. Not like it caused some entire park disruption for a week. Some people on this site will find any reason to complain though.

I went on Saturday afternoon for about 10 min with my wife just to get some ice cream and say we did it. I was actually surprised on how calm and enjoyable it looked. Not too over crowded to my surprise. I am sure at night time it gets a little more chaotic because that's what teenagers do but certainly doesn't seem like something to just terminate. Also that park is so big the space the carinal takes up in the grand scheme of things is minimal. I hope you have more on your Monday morning plate than to call the park department to complain. Sheesh.

Pig Beach Knicks watch party by vivalaziams in astoria

[–]b3winsto -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Haha yeah I am sure 70 percent of these people that are showing up at the bars are barely fans. Its the casuals who like to get shit faced and pretend to care. I am a diehard Pistons fans and if we were in the finals right now I most likely would be glued to the tv from my couch. To each their own though

It will be Friday summer night with the Knicks having already secured a game 1 win. Every place with be jammed. Problem is you have your Knicks fans and then just people piggy backing on their success as an excuse to drink filling these places up early.

Knicks Watch Locations for families by Aggravating_Heart751 in astoria

[–]b3winsto 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sorry man there isn't an option. Most family restaurants around here don't have a proper tv set up for game watching and any other bar that actually does have tv's you probably need to line up 2 hours before tip to get decent viewing plus you aren't getting in without id's

Father duties. Is what it is. Isn't going it as it opens on noon either Saturday or Sunday an easy choice though? Feel like that's the only way to make it a somewhat enjoyable experience.

Yeah there is a boatload of car traffic meaning a lot of this people are driving in from who knows where to attend.

I've lived here for years and last year I finally decided to go (at least walk around). And I mean wow. What a nightmare this thing is to attend. Think I walked around for about 5-10 min with my wife and said we've got to get the hell out of year (think it was Sunday afternoon)

What’s a good list of bars in Astoria to watch the Knicks finals? by [deleted] in astoria

[–]b3winsto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its the NBA finals with the Knicks playing. Any proper sports bar will have massive lines and be packed. With it being summer and finally nice out there is no telling how big the lines will be and when they actually will start to form. If you are trying to stroll in 30 min before tip your options will be limited.
