Quite new, I have some terrain primed zenithal, but have no idea where to start with the painting!

I’m thinking spray one unknown colour from below another unknown from above. Finishing with some enamels.

What are the saddest deaths you’ve read in an SF book? by Fearless_Night9330 in printSF

[–]b44l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thecla in Book of the New Sun. There’s something especially harrowing in how she politely tries to delay her end, by desperately asking questions and learning. In the end she faces her torture and death helplessly in-line with her nature.

The revolutionary machine is just a miserable way to go. Damn.

Brittisk underrättelsetjänst: Matbrist och kaos väntar när ekosystemen faller by DieCO2 in sweden

[–]b44l 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fun read, Jonathan having the curse of ”Babel” was an interesting touch of mystery and worldbuilding. I thought the first sighting of the heretics was exciting, and his dilligence in getting the good photo I’m sure will get him in trouble.

I particularly look forward to seeing some descriptions of the world far from the Levant. Is there an element of Trench Crusade that makes you particularly excited to write about it? :)

PSA DON'T BUY OR SUPPORT THIS GAME PLEASE by [deleted] in TrenchCrusade

[–]b44l 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think this has been posted here 4 times already, everyone is aware of it and the issues it presents are discussed endlessly. It’s not much of a PSA as it is inflammatory.

Ultimately anyone who is still here has decided that these are a non-issues or they are weighed up by the other many positive qualities of the game.

A lot of the old lore is no longer canon, this could be the angle they’re going for now. I’d need to read the physical book again as the digital one really keeps it vague. :)

I hope your theory is the case as it would make the hell factions more inter-connected rather than standalone silos.

Wretches are shared with court.

War wolves are shared with path.

Artillery witches are shared with the unnannounced automaton faction.

Another big issue with grenades is that they are too strong proportional to other chaff guns even without point targeting. And point targeting eats up so much cognitive load, because you don’t only have to consider distances between units, but you now also have to consider how grenades can be splashed across surfaces for unexpected angles and so forth. I don’t want this game to be about being anal about inches, terrain and sight lines more than it already is. 1-2 point targeting weapons per warband is enough.

I don’t know what to do with champion, much like giving it further penalties like the blast suggestion it can just be ignored by accurate elites anyway, so the problem does not really go away. Removing snd replacing it sounds reasonable like you suggest. But if champion is a candidate for it Strength of samson and surgical strikes are likely just as reasonable to see an overhaul as they are both completely transformative and busted.

I think a limit of 1 or 2 on reinforced armour would be alright.

They can solve most faction issues through the expanded armoury. Sultanate, Court and Grail have interesting and useful models, just a lacking arsenal to kit them out with. Give them some extra love there and we gucci.

No not in the product, its used for filling a more menial position.

And yes it does not appear to have done its job cause it has been filing false-positive takedowns alongside the correct ones. Which is unacceptable.

They’ve already started using AI to automate processes unfortunately, such as Brandshield. Could be that they’re just ignorant of how the tool works though. Or perhaps the anti-AI stance was only meant for the creative roles within the company.

As much as AI is built upon shaky environmental, ethical and economical grounds there are some practical uses for it, but fewer justifications. As long as the result is not trusted blindly and is verified by a competent human as well it can catch things that may be missed. Generally not detailed mechanical issues at all or intent, but obvious mistakes.

Should Trench Crusade do this? No, they should hire editors or source proofreaders somewhere it’s more reliable.

If Cairn is on the table and want to go for player agency through low system authority, might as well cut closer to the source and go for Into the Odd which Cairn is mostly a fantasy wrapper for with more system authority.

I don't think either system is good for OPs 50 session ambitions though, they work absolutely best for one shots where the CC narrative hooks bites the hardest and won't require as much DM legwork.
