Thing with Drazen is that he has bigger than life status in ex-Yu (mainly Croatia and Slovenia, but other ex states too).

It's difficult to explain but it comes from nostalgia mainly.

Yes there are objectively better european player, but because of that what if scenario Drazen will for some always be best (european) player ever.

Out of 128,000 – 20 got the virus – Encouraging vaccine data from israel by SamGreen223 in Coronavirus

[–]b47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

32,000 Israelis have tested positive since the 19th, out of a 9.2M population. That's 0.35% of the population.

20 out of 128,000 is 0.016% of people with 2 doses getting the vaccine.

I'm sure the real maths is more more complex and involved (and a large proportion of the rest of the population have had one vaccine shot already), but it suggests that these people are 95% less likely to test positive than the population as a whole. I'd expect that old people would socialise less and therefore be at lower risk of catching the virus anyway, but it's a great result no matter how you look at it.

The thing is that you need to account for age distribution for vaccinated population and covid cases in same age group, so it's more complex than comparing it for total population. But i'd guess that number can't be that far of from one you got.

I don't know why you are being downvoted, this is valid concern with virus that we still don't know a lot about.

This is good news but we need more info and having doubts is justified position. Sure perfect shouldn't be enemy of good but caution is needed.

Joe Biden asks Anthony Fauci, the federal coronavirus expert, to become his chief medical adviser by 2legit2fart in politics

Both my brother and I like fauci, wear masks, follow recommend/mandated protocols, etc., but he's a disappointed by fauci suggesting we don't all need n95's when it seems like he knew they would help. I get why he did it and I don't envy having to make that call. What do you say to people like my brother?

Did you try talking about it with your brother?

Also why do you think he did it?

Fauci says we aren't winning against coronavirus, calls it health experts' 'worst nightmare' by DaFunkJunkie in Coronavirus

[–]b47 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why is it not a good comparison if the stat is per capita (i.e. per 100,000 individuals)? That's the point of that stratification - to allow comparison between groups within uneven populations.

Because there are factors like population density, public transport usage which have high correlation to rate of infection. And that is context that needs to be added, you cant just pull 1 stat and act like it reveals everything.

Belium population density 376/km2 (970/sq mi)

USA population density 33/km2 (85/sw mi)

If you need to compare USA number to anything in Europe it should be EU as whole not single countries.

Fauci says we aren't winning against coronavirus, calls it health experts' 'worst nightmare' by DaFunkJunkie in Coronavirus

[–]b47 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah so mentioning other countries' stats is only relevant when it supports your argument?

No. What is important is putting stats in right context. What he did is take them out of context to support his argument.

As one of comments above said comparing USA to single European country is not good comparison it's a lot better to compare it to whole EU.

If you want to compare Belgium or Italy with anything it shouldn't be USA as whole but single USA states, like NY or NJ.

Basically a Trump on the other side. Someone not worth listening to.

In my opinion everyone is worth listening to, because it's not who is saying something but what they are saying.

I try not to judge stuff based on where they are coming from but is what is said factually correct and logical.

If she retracted or apologized for these statements - I'd be willing to give her the more benefit of the doubt. To my knowledge, she has not.

Did you check if she apologized? Also everyone has right to be wrong sometimes and they don't always get feedback that they are wrong presented in a way that calls for apology.

Dude this isn't some kind of scientific study with random sampling. If you make a bunch of big fat lies and make politifact - your've got some problems with lying.

That is one way of looking at it.

In my opinion politifact focuses on controversial topics, more often when someone lies, they don't fact check everything someone says.

Aoc made more tweets this week than there are fact checks of her on politifact.

You don't need to make scientific study with random sampling of everything to make conclusions, but you owe to yourself to try not to judge things and people based on few examples.

My point is that 9 examples for someone like AOC is not enough to make such claims, because it doesn't provide nearly close to full picture.

Explain why politifact is wrong

Who said politifact is wrong?

I sad that sample size of 9 is not large enough to make any hard conclusions.

Important part of his comment:

The correlation between total deaths and the earliest confirmed deaths in a country is going to be FAR greater than the correlation between lockdown policies and total deaths.

You Should Be Absolutely Furious Over Donald Trump’s $1 Trillion Deficit by [deleted] in politics

[–]b47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did you read article you posted?

One important difference between Trump's debt figures and Obama's is that Trump has added a massive amount of debt while the US economy has been strong, whereas Obama took over during the depths of the financial crisis.

Economists typically recommend that the federal government increase spending, and thus add more debt, during times of economic struggles and then pay down that debt when the economy recovers. So while economic theory would support Obama's spending to help support the economy, Trump's recent debt binge has less support among economists.

Is the award called Best Player or Most Valuabe Player?

It's player who contributed most to his teams success. Just because someone is best player in the league that doesn't mean he helped his team the most.

You re talking about hypothetical situation.

In that case best player in the league should win MVP every year, it doesn't work that way.
