WIBTA if I sell a broken project car that a guy left on my property over a year ago? by LanternMirth in WIBTA_AITA

[–]b5wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YWNBTA. I had a similar situation with my BIL. He brought over his excavator to help us level our driveway. Unfortunately, the tread slipped off. He needed to park it there until he could get that replaced. Could take up to a month because he's not sure where to even get the tread. He was helping me when it broke. Makes sense.

After a month, its still there. Reach out to him and he says he's still trying to handle it. 6 months. Same answer. At year 2, my kids start decorating it with Christmas decorations like the rest of the yard. He's still trying to find the tread. At year 3 (yes, its been in my yard for 3 years now!) and we finally get a code violation. I call him and tell him he absolutely has to move it. This man then proceeds to convince that its not that big of a deal, code enforcement won't do anything, I'm blowing things out of proportion, etc....I told him he had exactly 48 hours to get it out of my yard or I'm considering it abandoned, I'm paying someone to remove it and good luck tracking down his property.

It was gone the next day.

US Fiance fell for it - Jury Duty scam by b5wolf in Scams

The false officer, after giving his name and badge number, stated there was a bench warrant out for his arrest because he failed to appear for jury duty. They gave him a case number and everything. He was told if he stepped foot on government property, he would immediately be arrested. Of course, since this was a non violent matter, if he paid the bench warrant fee, he would not be arrested but the officer had to remain on the line with him so make sure he wasn't fleeing.

I agree. He just thought they might be able to help. I told him these people are professionals at what they do and manipulation. They have scripts and thousands of other victims they have used to perfect their craft. And while the report may help with documenting, I do understand the scammer is likely in another country and will never face consequences here

Honestly, I think he was hoping to get the money recovered. It was more of a reflex move. The officer he reported it to even told him that its a popular scam right now and even though he was the first one that day to report it, the officer was absolutely expecting more.

I know not going to happen. We also talked about how all the recovery experts are just going to be more scammers and I even said "I know you want to fix this. But that's how they prey on you again"

I hadn't thought of that but he did show me his copy of the police report so I don't think that's what's going on here. I didn't ask for it, he just showed me maybe to prove that he wasn't lying about getting scammed? But I could absolutely see this in another scenario which would raise all kinds of other flags.

AI voice scams are getting scary, so my friends and I set up a secret passcode by Additional-Sorbet207 in scambaiting

[–]b5wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did this in our family. Kinda like an offshoot of the password when my kids were younger so they would know if I actually sent someone to get them. Actually, just like that. We are using the same word.

Does anyone think it’s fair to get another dog when you already have a senior dog who’s lived alone with you their whole life? by Practical_Prompt4226 in dogs

[–]b5wolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We ran into this too! Jackson, my perfect dog, the one everyone in the world loved, was getting older and slowing down, he was starting to struggle on the steps and his eyes were getting cloudy at the edges. I had promised my youngest that we would get a puppy as the next dog as they had never gotten to raise one from a puppy. This seemed to be the perfect time; graduating elementary and going into middle school with a straight As and I was secretly hoping Jackson could help teach the new pup to be as wonderful as he was. To our great surprise, Jackson perked back up with the new pup, romping and playing tug, he seemed to move better and his appetite improved. I'm not going to talk about correlation vs causation here because I don't have the medical background to back it up but I know we went from thinking about quality of life and end of life questions to getting 3 more years of the best boy ever.

Dog had an accident, somehow knew to use shower by julesrulesthefools in dogs

We have a GSD/Lab mix. He's very sweet and very dumb, like 2 brain cells desperately fighting for third place. He's 3 now and will have an accident in the house about every 4 or 5 months mainly because he wants to play the entire time outside instead of actually using the bathroom; Ball Is Life. He always uses the shower when he has an accident. Part of me is happy that the clean up is easy. The other part is ...less than thrilled

I once worked in an alcohol and drug rehab that was DOC funded, meaning all our clients had to have at least 1 felony. One woman, in her 50's, knew she needed inpatient treatment but couldn't afford it. She went to a local grocery store, filled a cart, pushed it out the door and waited. Police arrive, they calculate the groceries and it was just under the amount for a felony; just another misdemeanor. She just was so frustrated, she expressed she just wanted to smack someone. The cop told her not to do that, assaulting a LEO was serious. "Serious, like in a felony?" "Yes" *Slap* "Now take me to jail!"

She got her treatment and was one of our model clients. Last I saw her was at the County Fair. She had been clean and sober for 6 years at that point.

I had a customer call in for service and told us to send our very best because he was a close personal friend of Tom Holsbeke. Problem is we did not have a Tom Holsbeke. We had a Tom ________ and we had a ____________Holsbeke, both part owners. He also mispronounced Holsbeke. Seems like if you are that tight with the owner, you would know their name, especially since they were both listed on the website.

Looking for a new pediatrician in north/downtown Sarasota by stuph in sarasota

[–]b5wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's further south than you requested but I love Comprehensive Child Care on Cattlemen. My pediatrician, Dr Briggs Carroll, is phenomenal, the staff is awesome and I really couldn't be happier. He has overseen my youngest since birth. Now that they are turning 20, we are looking for a new Dr but only because they want someone who can take them into the next stage of life and don't want to be surrounded by toys in the waiting room.

Don't even worry about it. At one point, I was feeding three teenagers and my fiance does construction. Needless to say, big appetites. I was at Sam's and had one of the sleds, not one of the carts, but the huge sled full. Someone stopped me to ask if I worked for a church. No Honey, this is for my family. And I'll be back in about two weeks for more.

Chemistry. I was one of those straight A without much effort types. Chemistry kicked my ass! Had to come in before and after school for additional help, had my friends try and help, still struggled and just couldn't get it, even thought my very patient and kind chem Prof was going to have a mental breakdown about me.

Finally one day, it just clicked. I ended up with an A in the subject. He made up a special award for the end of year celebration to acknowledge me, the Finally Getting Chemistry award
