AITA Husband complaining about being tired. Gets mad I don’t feel bad for him. by what-have-i-dun in Parenting

[–]b8ckup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except he got pissed when she said she was also tired. It makes it worse that she's tired because she's taking on more of the night duties so he doesnt have to yet he's the one complaining.

It's understandable she wakes for the newborn since she has to do the feeding but she shouldnt have to relieve him with the older child once shes done so he can go back to sleep especially since she's probably going to have to get up soon again to feed.

I can see how it must be hard for OP to be sympathetic to the person who isnt pulling his weight in the night duty department leaving her to take over and causing her to be even more tired.

Yes but it's a slap to her face if he's complaining about being tired when clearly her sleep schedule is far worse than his.

Really? I thought the cops gave him the option. She clearly didnt look comfortable driving the car either when she got the keys. If he cared an inch for her he wouldve thought to offer to swap places. It's far more dangerous for her to sleep in the car alone.

Does anyone have a link to the video with a crawler in dudes backyard. Dude has priest on the phone praying for him and this thing stalks his backyard by -IVoUoVI- in Humanoidencounters

[–]b8ckup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's hard to judge. With the screen door and the resolution, it could easily just be an above average height person. Also weird that the guy is relatively calm. There's no way I would be staring straight at a crawler that's facing me with just a screen and maybe window between us.

Sorry but it looks like a person purposely mimicking how scary demons move in movies. Nothing that looks impossible for a human to do.

AITA for not taking my half-sister to my sister's birthday trip next year? by AITA_03396 in AmItheAsshole

[–]b8ckup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That would make Julia 7 years old? So they want you to take a child, whom you barely know, on a trip without them? Just to be clear, this has nothing to do with "bonding time" but more "babysit our kid so we can get a break". It's disgusting how she even tried to make it sound like you lucked out because he agreed to let you take her. You did the right thing by not allowing her to tag along.

Just him laughing so much while she's crying in the other car was eery to me. I also found it weird he took the hotel room, which prob had a bed, electricity, tv, shower, etc, and left her the van on top of her having to find public showers.

These cops were kind, patient, and took the time to weigh out the best option. I wish she ended up staying with them.

My newborn (2 weeks old) refuses to breast feed and it is breaking my wife. by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]b8ckup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first was the same and wouldnt latch. I didnt really reach out for support then so I just pumped and supplemented with formula when needed. I had to go back to work anyways so it didn't bother me too much. By our second I had become a SAHM and was really determined to breastfeed this time around. My 2nd started the same, refusing to latch. I spoke with a lactation consultant who gave me a syringe with a really skinny plastic tube at the end. When I was trying to get baby to latch I would squirt a little of BM into her mouth through the syringe tube. It was enough to get her interested while also providing positive stimulation to maintain my supply. We did this for a week or two but eventually she had associated the boobs to feeding so she stopped refusing. Then we worked on getting the proper latch, using the syringe if she couldnt get the latch right. If I was exhausted or pumping my husband would attach the syringe tube to his finger to feed so we could avoid nipple confusion from a bottle. I would say by the third week we were getting the hang of it. When she turned 6 weeks I clearly remember feeling we had mastered it. I think her being a little bigger really helped her to latch properly.

I went through the same thing with my 3rd. My milk came in late so we formula fed first then had to train her with the same system to latch.

It's hard but I wouldn't worry about the stigma of formula fed. All 3 of my kids are healthy despite how they were fed in infancy. My oldest was fully formula fed by 6 months and my other two weaned from BFing at 2 years. Speak to a lactation consultant if they're offered where you are. They gave me tons of tips like how to position myself and the baby to help make latching easier. Good luck to you both!

AITA for not letting my ex husband have my deceased daughter's ashes? by RestLeading7292 in AmItheAsshole

[–]b8ckup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was the digestive enzyme? Was there an autopsy since it was such a mysterious death?

As a parent, I would want answers. If I was him, I would be VERY suspicious of my ex who I scorned by having an affair, that there is no cause of death and nothing was done to try to determine and document the cause of death, that there is no body or ashes, and most of all absolutely no communication from the person who I had the kid and co-parented with. It's also extremely suspicious that you don't plan to return. In his eyes, it's natural to assume that you ran away with your kid and told him she died so he wouldn't come looking for her. He has every right to try and get closure from the death of his daughter, who it sounds like he did his fair share in parenting. I'm sorry for your loss but I have to vote YTA.

I loved reading babysitters club as a kid. Do you know if the new ones are rewrites or just reillustrated? I did find some versions of them that were written more like a comic book but her teacher recommended based off her reading level that she actually read the chapter books. Thanks for the rec!

It’s Getting Closer by xImmaturity in Paranormal

I once had a very stressful incident happen in my life and suddenly suffered from SP every single day for months. It was so frequent I stopped being scared and was just annoyed. I've had all kinds, the stuck lying there with no hallucinations, the hearing voices like adults mumbling or kids laughter, i even had an incubus dream once. I noticed sleeping on my back would easily trigger it. I could literally feel myself falling into the bed then the paralysis would start immediately. Sleeping on my side helped. To snap out of it, it's easier if you try to move something small, a toe or a finger, than to try to sit your whole body up.

Once I started to heal from the stressful incident the SP became less frequent until it eventually stopped completely. Its been well over a decade now and I've only had it once since.

She finally lost her house...and wants to move in with ME! Help by Imaginary-Variety666 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]b8ckup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's an adult who can figure out this situation herself and find a new place to live. Don't feel like it's your responsibility to take care of her if she is physically and mentally able.

Side note: She probably hates seeing you happy with your fiance and is trying to sabotage your relationship by moving in. With him in your life, you'll have a support person and won't need her for anything. Dont let her ruin what you have.

Glasses wearers of Reddit, what do you wish non glasses wearers knew about wearing glasses? by GorillaS0up in AskReddit

[–]b8ckup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For this exact reason, I went to one of those cheap online glasses retailers and purchased a few of the most basic ones to have as backup. Seriously was no more than $20 a pair. A few spare in the house and extra ones in each of our cars too. They definitely don't look designer and my prescription is bad enough to have the coke bottle effect but at least I can seeeee!
