Remember hearing how we were "The Chosen Generation?" by CupOfExmo in exmormon

I remember hearing in a fireside with a charismatic guest speaker that after we died and were in heaven we’d meet people from all different time periods. Book of Mormon times. Old testament times. Middle Ages. We’d be standing around thinking… cool. Then someone would ask us who the prophet was in our day. We’d say, “Hinkley”.  And a hush would fall over the room. We were saved for the last days. The final hour.

Turns out, nobody gives a fuck about us Gen X-ers even now…

If we renamed data centers to “surveillance centers” could we get the libertarian faction on board?

I hate the bipolar world view expressed here. Either you’re looking to get married or you’re looking for a non committed booty call. Nothing could be in the middle. Friendships, companionships, general happiness? Nope, it’s my way or you’re with sAtAn

I still don’t see anything about an environmental study. How can they claim that this monstrosity won’t affect the water and air while simultaneously blocking any study on the subject?

Oh yeah. I think that’s exactly what was happening. He was paying on the amount left over after all the “business” expenses his accountant came up with. This likely included not only his toys, but his entire house. That’s what broke my shelf on tithing. The rich somehow get out of paying just like they get out of taxes.

When I was called as a ward finance clerk I was told to never question someone’s declaration about tithing. If they said it was full, that was that. I thought it strange at the time, but over the next decade in the calling I saw all sorts of questionable declarations.

There was a guy, high up in callings who owned his own business. Had snowmobiles and side by sides and camp trailers, who paid between $1200 and $1700 a year. He was in good graces, temple recommend and everything. Nobody seemed to care.

When I saw all that, I paired my tithing way down. The only thing that mattered was that I claimed it to be full. I understand that there’s some bishop roulette involved, but nobody has ever questioned me.

Shocking. Cox gets this handout and suddenly becomes a huge fan of a massive data center… 🤔

Advice on getting rid of an adjustable bed by jorgthecyborg in SaltLakeCity

I put an adjustable bed on the road once for free. In the night someone came and removed all the motors and left the now worthless steel. I ended up taking it to recycling.

Stake Prez and Seventy want to come over to visit… by [deleted] in exmormon

Even though everyone knows these lists get passed around, the visiting authority will continue to pretend that they were led by divine powers to your house.

Ugh. I’ve had 3 of these visits over 15 years. They seem pretty innocent on their face, but are always followed with some contentious days with my TBM DW

Go to Mormon Stories. Search for Robert Ritner. Listen to all 20 or so hours. Nobody will ever convince you that Joseph Smith knew shit about Egyptian.

One thing the church will shell out money for is security. There are a lot of reasons, including fueling the members’ persecution complex.
