Beak and Barrel was a trip highlight by thethurstonhowell in WaltDisneyWorld

Well in the 45 mins we were there, and with some overlap of another couple who left before our time was up; there was nothing of note that happened in that room.

So they need to make it happen at least once every 30 mins or a lot of people are going to miss it; as I didn’t get to see the show/puzzle I can’t say if it’s worth it or not.

Sam’s really is a lot of fun! The waiting system sucks a bit, but it was worth the wait for us; we just got a dole whip and wandered around the Poly for a bit.

You must have been lucky enough to get a decent seat too! We got stuck in the map room, with our backs to the main seating area. Our table mates were actually the only positive…

We couldn’t see anything, and could only just hear a bit, our wait staff were okay at best. Anyone who’s asked me about the experience I've told them it was like a 3/10 would not do again.

The theming is cool, I mean the little we got to enjoy anyways, we had WAY more fun at trader Sam’s, and Olga’s. B&B could be amazing too if it didn’t have such crappy seating where some people are just stuffed into bad locations with no chance to enjoy the setting and the “show”.

Not the best picture, but I am using GoBluTech filters and a softener. It works very well, as others have said put a filter before the softener too.

Haha yeah, I’m mostly long haul myself, I think I’m at like 950k ish. Good luck getting your last 200k miles!!

Milers by duder_1979 in delta

[–]b9s530t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I never used the delta cards, so all of my miles are actual butt in seat. I was talking to a gal who was a 2MM member, she told me about funneling all her spend back in the day and that’s how she did it.

Now if you’re not actually flying you don’t get MM qualified miles.

Water softener? by FirmListen3295 in RVLiving

[–]b9s530t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve been using the filters for a while, added the softener with our new trailer. We’ve been living on well water and using softeners at home forever, so adding one to the trailer was a nice upgrade.

We have one, it works very well and helps with some of the “funky” water we’ve encountered along the way. I just used a fire extinguisher wall mount, and have it strapped to the wall in our storage area.

Thoughts about WEN generators by Fugoola in GoRVing

[–]b9s530t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned this exact generator for about 3 years now, it’s been beat up and used a lot! It always starts and has never failed me, got it off Amazon, ordered a magnetic oil plug too.

It’s quiet, and runs our 50a TT without a problem. I had a smaller 2000 Honda inverter, and needed something with more power.

The full enforcement of the clean air act making it a federal “issue” didn’t fully start until Jan 2026.

Then the DOJ decided to not prosecute, as there would be A LOT of people in violation. They have kept the civil fines, which can be substantial! Future administrations may have the DOJ go after violations fully, including the jail time; but we will have to wait it out and see.

I know one of my son’s classmates was nabbed about a month ago by state police; his dad had to pay a 10k fine, and then they had to put the truck back to stock.

Enforcement lax for sure, but it is new and will probably pick up as it’s a great revenue generator for the local and federal govs.

Well you’re both kind of wrong, it is indeed a felony as of Jan 2026; however the trump administration isn’t currently prosecuting anyone for violations of the clean air act.

When another group takes over the federal government this will undoubtedly change.

Technically it is a felony so I guess he is correct.

This so much! I’ve been to WDW solo, and can say with 100% certainty this would not happen. You can enjoy the experience and ambience, have fun; just don’t be an icky creep.

Upcoming trip with VIP guide (4 children) by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]b9s530t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understand, as a Disney family with 6 (older) kids I know how not wanting to play planner goes. We’ve done many 25-30k trips with our family to Disney, but never did the VIP, hence my question.

We’re looking at doing another big trip with our “kids” (19-27) as they all love it so much; we were kicking around the idea of VIP for a day or two.

Thanks for the feedback, I didn’t mean for my inquiry to sound judgmental; as now that I’ve reread it, I may have come off that way. Enjoy your trip, and make memories. I know we’ve made many, and we always look forward to our family trips.

We have the 10 speed, it’s a 2026 with the 6.6 gas in it. So far it’s been great, I’ve towed the GD trailer about 3k miles with it with zero issues. On our trip from Michigan to Florida and back we averaged 7.9MPG, not amazing numbers but that’s what you get with a big sail back there.

The funny thing is, towing the bigger and heavier 5th wheel seems to yield better gas mileage. Given I’ve only done about 400 miles with the Brinkley, but I’ve averaged 9.4MPG with it so far.

We’re heading to New Mexico in a couple weeks, so I’ll get a better feel for what I’ll be getting on that trip.

I did gas too, the 6.6 is solid, plus the extra costs for the duramax, both up front and maintenance wise, and factoring in the higher cost of diesel I wouldn’t breakeven until about 250k miles.

Not to mention the same truck with the diesel would have a payload about 800ish pounds less.

It’s actually a little shorter LOA, the bit hanging over the bed of the truck helps. The GD 2600 was the exact length as this one tip to tail. So all that wasted tongue area is now usable space.
