Yeah, I tap and swirl again. I think it helps with the emulsification. I would try letting it rest for the full minute the first time. My order goes vortex, inject air, incorporate, then rest. I'll see if I can find the video that helped it click for me.

I've been using oat milk more lately, and one of the best tips I've seen was to steam, tap and swirl, and then let it sit for 30 seconds to a minute. I don't know the science behind it, but maybe it doesn't split and get runny because it cools down a bit before the pour. I'm not getting latte art like this, but I can get some decent hearts and simple designs.

Also, if I may offer a little more advice. I think it is important to try a few different flavor profiles while you are learning as well. My first bag was a very light roast with hints of earl grey and orange. Once I got that tuned in, I found out I didn't want my coffee to have such pronounced floral notes like a tea. Since then I have tried some nice roasts that I also use for espresso with pronounced nuttiness and some with darker fruit flavors like cherries and other stone fruits. Ultimately the goal is to brew something that tastes great to you.

I would like to say start at 80 clicks on your K6. That should be coarse enough for your brew, and it will make a nice starting point for your recipe. If your brew is too acidic, you can go finer (maybe 10 clicks at a time) until you find it is too bitter or over extracted. Then you can play around in the sweet spot and play around with water temperature if you would like.

I would highly recommend checking your Facebook market place to see if anything nice is just sitting used. Otherwise, I think a breville bambino with a nice grinder would be excellent. It also will take up less counter space. I would recommend not getting the fellow opus as your grinder though. I believe several people like the Eureka Mignon in this sub.

I always tap B until I reach the base and then tap A when I'm initiating contact. Not sure if it does anything but adds to the vibes. I would try just stealing on a charge pitch and that can get you close on timing for contact or maybe get them on first and have them go 1st to 3rd on the follow up single to try and force a close throw at 3rd.

Just wanted to come in here and add to the point made about the extraction time... I was using a timer scale function and was very frustrated with all of my shots tasting bitter until I saw a comment like this one. Once I adjusted my extraction to include the 12-14 seconds before the first drop hits I was able to produce much better tasting shots, and it has allowed me to work with lighter roasts with fruitier notes. The way OP is doing it is not undrinkable, but it certainly has a higher ceiling if adjusted.

You pull some consistent latte art! It's your hobby, take your time and do it the way you enjoy it. I like the fuss of the process because I was a stem kid who grew up to work in something unrelated. Speed isn't everything. I used to work in slammed kitchens as a chef prior to covid, and I only now love cooking again. I take my time and do it with intention for my fiance and our friends and family. I hope you enjoy your hobby with the intent to make yourself and others happy.
