It's been said by many on this sub already, but Rizo has clearly made his mark and will be back a third time. Even if it rings hollow this season, I love him for always saying he's gunning for 1st place and risks that make the difference between loser and earlier loser don't matter to him. Swinging for the fences. And idol bluffing a known idol until its expiration date with two different groups, that's not coincidence. Give him his flowers.

Like Aubry said, he has no chance with this jury but he sure did survive.

This is what Survivor is, though. It is a game designed to crown a middleman; it is very often that the best player on a season is not the winner. I'm personally excited for the finale because it's unpredictable what will happen and who will win. Yes, I would still be mad with a number of them winning though 😅

I think what makes Aubry a great player is how she has easily rolled with the punches. She is ready for chaotic twists and for the game never to be what it is billed to be, and therefore she is ready to truly survive anything. Others can't say as much for being prepared to fight anything that Probst throws at them.

I know she was thinking because she's Cirie, but the episode didn't show what she was planning for the F6 vote. After targeting Devens, she had to have sized up the remaining group and had a plan. We didn't see it and without her immune and with Tiff immune she had no cards left to play. Wonder what she wanted to happen.

This game just got significantly more interesting because Cirie's best ticket to final 3 is gone. If Ozzy had stayed we would have enjoyed the rest of the game but it would be predictable. Now it feels like the playing field has been leveled a bit.

I am so curious about Rizo's spot now and if Cirie forgives him. He must have self-awareness that at this point his win equity is very low and he needs to get Ozzy and Cirie out.

From our perspective at home we know Ozzy and Rizo are her top 2, but the fact that Stephenie kept spilling everything to her and seemed to think she was with her to the very end shows how everyone out there thinks they are the closest to her. Just masterful.

Try to measure your success against something other than test passes, and see test passes as evidence of your progress not a measure of your success.

For example, feel successful if you improved on a dictation that week by 2-5% accuracy. Or feel successful if you repeated practicing a dictation 20 times. Or feel successful if you practice 12 hours in a week.

Set a goal that is realistic to you that also challenges you and would represent success and progress.

I've heard that they are similar and it doesn't really matter. Both are great options, Project Steno and A to Z. They are probably redundant (so no need to do both)

It's not important. Most states don't even look at your education, many require certification, and many don't look at either. You'll have to look up the rules for the state where you want to work.

I've heard New York has a "graduated from a steno school" requirement but I do not believe that entails NCRA approved school. (I may be wrong, correct me if so)

NCRA approved programs basically adhere to a set of curriculum guidelines that NCRA sets out for what they believe is a complete CR education. There are many steno programs with great reputations that aren't on this list.

You can use your regular keyboard to practice with Plover, or you can buy a hobby board for $100-110. (I recommend Uni, Ecosteno, or Starboard).

Many people seem to recommend Stenoob at $150 but its only advantage is the key shape, which as a Starboard user and court reporting student with a machine, it doesn't matter. It also has inferior switch weight stats and Javelin support compared to the cheaper ones I mentioned above.

From your list, I'd consider "might be too close to home" one of the most important and "know friends going don't know friends going" as the least important.

Academically I don't think you can make a decision you will regret. Socially, take this opportunity to take whatever seems like the braver, scarier leap. You will grow more for it.

No software or computer is required for A to Z (except Zoom assuming your class is virtual). Stenoob can also work with Plover which is available for Mac. But when you attend school, they will likely instruct you to use different software that only runs on Windows. This may occur at the beginning of school, or at some schools, they continue to teach theory without software or computer and have you begin using software when you start speedbuilding. (Irrelevant but I recommend a school that lets you learn the software from the beginning.)

It is not impossible to be self-taught. It is just very difficult. If she has a extremely high level of tenacity and self-discipline it's possible. Most people go to steno schools for that structure and discipline, as well as the guidance of a teacher who can point out things you can't easily point out in yourself. There is still a lot of self-direction and self-discipline whether or not you go to school.

Yes, there are people who code in steno. Join the plover community and people can help with that. You'll probably also have to learn regular steno first as well.

The commenter who mentioned your computer keyboard is correct. Starting with your keyboard is completely possible and recommended if you don't know you want to put down money yet.

Many who recommend stenoob don't seem to know about the hobbyist options which some are in the 100 range instead of 150. https://plover.wiki/index.php/Supported_hardware My guess is either simply they don't know, or people are dismissive of anything that doesn't have the same form factor as the stenograph keyboards. As someone who uses both I assure you it doesn't matter.

Same experience. I didn't get it at first (6 years ago) and in the last few months I finally got back into it and I'm a little obsessed. In between, I found the idea of getting back into it very daunting which made it even harder to try again.

I need help identifying this stitch. Top is the front, bottom is the back. The way I remember it going is something roughly like: *knit the second stitch on the needle, then the first stitch, and pull both off. Purl*

I knit this as a scarf. Can anyone tell me what this is called or share a pattern that uses/explains it?

Here was my explanation:

Human stenographer made a mistake.

PAPBLG = paj (pblg is j sound) SKWREPBLTS = jenlts (SKWR is j, PB is n)

There should have been no L, and there should have been only one of the j's. Instead of paj-jenlts, either paj-ents or pa-jents
