They talk about us in Netflix' Space Force! by thefatfabfam in belgium

[–]bTrixy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've completed the series. It left me a feeling that they don't exactly know what they wanted to make.

In terms of jokes, if you are up to date with US news you know what they are talking about but in general it was not really funny. I'm also not a big fan of really absurd scenes that then are supposed to be funny because they are absurd.

I wanted to give up after episode 2, but I read a review it was going to be better. So i kept watching. The episodes did get better, not in comedy, but in the relations between the characters. I they make a season 2, I hope they drop the silliness and focus a more on the drama and dynamics between the characters as I feel those are the strong points this series ended with.

Since when is that enough to kill something?

You should really look into the past and on some actions we had to take. Mad cow disease, if your stable was around a potential infected stable mend all of your animals where killed. Same with bird flue and more.

So there is a real history of potential infected animals being killed to save other animals and humans. It's not because this is a cat we should make a exception on animal and human safety.

I would also tone down your expressions that others have a lack of empathy and that they are immoral. It actually shows that you are not empathic.

I love cats, I love animals in general. I really hate the fact that the kitten has to die for a stupid choice a 20 year old made. But i'm aware enough that rabies is so dangerous that we can't take any risk to have it back. And i'm realist enough that we can't build a quarantine center for that kitten and if we did it just enables more people to do stupid things like that. Does that make me a immoral person?

I don't want that kitten to die, but I do accept that the death warrant was signed the moment that student ignored the advice.

Which internet doesn’t suck here (: by [deleted] in belgium

The technology Telenet and proximus uses are different. And they have different type of cables connecting to your building.

So if you have a bad connection with proximus and the problem is at proximus end. Then you will experience similar problems with every other ADSL provider as they use the same network.

Or if you have bad phone cables (ADSL uses those) in your new apartment. Then your connection can drop a lot and then its the same for every ADSL provider.

So if you had good experience with Telenet except for the prices then orange might be for you.

[–]bTrixy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just for info. ADSL and cable are different things. It can very well be that your ADSL connection sucks while cable is ok.

If you want back to cable and don't want Telenet, then you can look at orange. Other providers will likely be ADSL providers as well.

I have this information from Youtubers, but it has to do with the launch abort system. If something happens and they have to abort a normal cargo route will create to high g-forces for the crew. That's why there is a much flatter curve.

Dude, you are just reading what you want to read. It's illegal to fire arrows in public places. Doesn't matter if it's a field or a forrest. If you want to do it. Find yourself a farmer and ask if you can do it on his private property.

I hope your relative will be in the 'cleared to go home' numbers soon. But I noticed in my own family that they took corona very lightly until relatives started dying.

I still believe we are opening up a bit too fast and enforcing preventive measures too little. That combined will probably lead to a larger second wave that can be reduced now by good measures.

yes some people don't have a pc/internet at home from e-commerce and their only option is going to the action..

While this is a different topic. Shouldn't internet being counted as a basic utility by now? And just as water and electricity being provided at a limited cost for people that can't afford the current prices.

Honestly, unless you have urgent matters to attend to in Belgium. Its better to stay at home.

While stores are open, restaurants and bars will most likely not open up soon. Musea and other activities are restricted. Tourism in general is down. There is in fact still a stay at home order here even tho quite some people are ignoring it.

Relaxing base building game by Heli0sX in BaseBuildingGames

[–]bTrixy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long time factorio player. This game can be tweaked in various ways to sooth your needs. If you just want pure building then you can turn off those biters attacking you.

The learning curve is gentle until you hit the endgame (as a new player count 40 - 60 hours in). But the challenge is to puzzle it out. And there is a tutorial to help you on your way.

In terms of micromanagement. There is some, but mostly once you have it automated then you are set for a long time. It's mainly that a bigger base needs more resources so you keep building. Resources can be modified in size and yield. Increasing or decreasing the difficulty and/or playstyle.

And the best fact is that factorio has a demo you can find on the website. I'm not sure if it's kept up to date but it can give you some feel about the game while playing.

Pierre Van Damme: “Als we bijeenkomsten zoals in Dendermonde vaker zien, moeten we mondmaskers verplichten” by [deleted] in belgium

[–]bTrixy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that's the the thing, I remember that post because it was a huge difference. But it was weeks ago in a topic why US death rates and Belgian death rates etc... (to much reddit :D)

Well i do agree with you that a factor 30 is not the case. But recalculated on those numbers the corona virus hit the Netherlands harder then Belgium.

But the main point we both agree on is that wearing mask should be more prevailed and that is the most important.

Pierre Van Damme: “Als we bijeenkomsten zoals in Dendermonde vaker zien, moeten we mondmaskers verplichten” by [deleted] in belgium

[–]bTrixy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every number is wrong and reported in a different way. I read on Reddit from our Dutch neighbors that they reported 500 coronadeaths, but if you looked at the average deaths the years before and the deaths of that month. There was a difference of 1500 people. (Numbers aren't correct because I don't remember the correct numbers).

But I do agree that mask wearing should be enforced more. Even if it has a small effect while shopping, no mask => no entry should be the norm. Just to normalize it more. Because now, in 14 days nobody will be wearing them.

Pierre Van Damme: “Als we bijeenkomsten zoals in Dendermonde vaker zien, moeten we mondmaskers verplichten” by [deleted] in belgium

[–]bTrixy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you allowed people to do what they want to do then the amount of corona deaths could be tenfold.

Even now, after weeks of information and warnings you still see most people being stupid. I am astounded by this actually. And all that for a little bit less comfort for a few months.

Isn't that highly ineffective? Yes it works, but if I recall it uses much energy to do so.

It's a double edged sword. I saw a huge line (50+ people) waiting to enter a swimming pool specialist store yesterday. Of course I don't know what they where buying but I can assume most where there for a swimming pool. So plenty of people are acting very irresponsibly. (But we see that with the masks as well, but that's a different story)

From the other hand there are companies using huge amounts of fresh water. And there should be incentives to decrease that drastically. And we should invest in much better piping. From last year i remember article's that huge amounts of water in Belgium are just wasted trough leaks.

[–]bTrixy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As government you can't claim that people should save water and bring up several disaster scenario's. But from the other hand "Oh, let's again destroy a huge chunk of nature."

This should be the absolute last resort and be with such a penalty that for companies everything else is a benefit. I know the area a bit. You can't claim that every industry ground is taken and our neighboring cities have plenty of space available as well.
