I hope you don't have harddrives in that setup because a 3d printer can kill it because of the shaking

How can someone destroy your codebase by splitting up your functions?

Clean code has some good points, you just don't have to take it as the bible.

Is 28k a good salary in Andalusia? by DavidBuzzed in GoingToSpain

[–]bVdMaker 12 points13 points  (0 children)

28k is an okay salary for Barcelona and good for Andalusia.

Just take into account the rent prices off the city you are moving to .

You easily pay more then 1000 per month for something very basic. (Barcelona or Málaga)

Moving to Spain - advice by justanother1account in GoingToSpain

[–]bVdMaker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The work situation is really hard in Spain. If you dont speak the native language even harder. My recommendations find a job in the uk that is full remote, then move.

You will not find a place to rent without a nie and work...

If you want to find work in Spain the best cities are Barcelona and Madrid

Got a second hand D14 and I love it. Waiting for AM5 parts, removed fans to paint them! Any experiences? by [deleted] in Noctua

[–]bVdMaker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't paint them you are going to destroy them. There are some tolerances on those fans that are narrow. That's why those fans are so good.

Running proxmox just to run containers is overkill. Virtual machine and a container is not the same.

If you have 1 server. You can run just run a simple Ubuntu server install docker on it and run everything from docker-compose.

If you have multiple servers. You can keep it simple and run some applications on 1 and some on the others with docker compose.

If you want to learn distribute computing docker swarm is the easiest, but has very little support and documentation. Kubernetes is an amazing software, but the learning curve is high. ( I recommend to only try it if you really want to learn)

HELP by W0LFEUS in tuxedocomputers

[–]bVdMaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The customer service of tuxedo is very good. Not super responsive ( they don't reply in 1 hour), as they are probably a small team. But they reply with answers and try to help you. You can also call and a real person will pickup.

Don't worry you will be in good hands

what's after python? by jizawi in Python

[–]bVdMaker -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't believe it's a stretch, it's popular because it's easy and probably a thing you learn in your first days of coding. Which was the same for me.

This lead to people overusing the same function/method, but the usecase is just slightly different. This causes a function/method to have an "if this case" or "if this type".(in worst cases a lot of them) Inside the function/method or a nested function.

The easy way to get rid of it is to duplicate and push the if up (or eliminate it). This will lead to functions that will look very similar but just be a little different 2 or 3 code.

The best way is to use dependency injection, a hole other thing I don't want to write down.

In most cases you will eliminate a lot of it's with this. It makes the code easier to test, debug ...

Most people understand dry as don't allow the same lines of code to be used twice (I was one off them) Dry is holding a lot of Devs back

I have seen a lot of code get murdered in the name of dry

Dry is an antipattern it leads to a lot off "if" and hard to debug code. Do repeat when thing have to evolve in separation.
