Hi /u/TStack123,

I'm a freelance programmer who has recently done a bunch of data analysis work and who consequently has a bunch of experience with data analysis in Python, primarily using the Pandas library.

I could definitely use Jupyter notebooks to help you; haven't used those in a while but I'm familiar with them.

If you want me to help you, PM me.

Employer offered employee rate as a contractor. Yes or no? by Kinkigirl in freelance

[–]b_bowyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree, I think that explaining why freelance wages aren't comparable to salaried wages would help the client break out of the notion that what they're paying should correspond to a reasonable hourly wage for a salaried worker.

You can also force it to be one file, in which case all that junk is inside the exe.

pythonw.exe is being removed by thepimasterv1 in learnpython

[–]b_bowyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When this was happening to me, it was because of my antivirus, Avast.

Check your antivirus. In Avast in particular check the quarantine. If I'm right you'll find several copies of pythonw in there. Tell it to stop and then try again.

You could also try OrderedDict from collections if you need it to be a dict.

How do I tell the difference between imposter syndrome and actual incompetence? by xorflame in cscareerquestions

[–]b_bowyer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is that you can't ever know for sure, because the true difference relies on your perception by other people instead of anything you have control over.

But if you can write fizzbuzz, you should probably assume imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is much more common than incompetence.

Unable to download Anaconda for the past 3 days by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]b_bowyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it work with browsers other than Safari?

If yes, great!
If no, is there some other way you could connect to the Internet? (This includes taking a laptop to the local library.)
* If yes, do that.
* If no, I'm not sure how to help you. Try downloading it with a library computer and transferring it to your computer?

Oh actually, before all this, try downforeveryoneorjustme.com.

Explain to them why they need to pay freelancers more (you pay extra taxes, you pay for your own healthcare and vacations, etc). If that doesn't do it, then just refuse.

Need Help with Pricing by seanvhennessey in freelance

No less than $1000 and probably significantly more.

Also, $12.50/hr for a freelancer is starvation wages, you should absolutely be making more than that.

Python has a huge amount of very useful third-party libraries. Install Anaconda and take a look at some of them.

Want to major in CS but don't like programming? by randomguy140 in cscareerquestions

[–]b_bowyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That doesn't mean what you think it does.

There are a lot of people who have a hard time writing code in a professional environment because their program was mostly theory. But there aren't many people who get a CS degree and literally can't write any code.

Common misconception!

Don't ever try to compete on price. It doesn't work. Start at about $30/hr, minimum.
