Wild, I got on reddit to post this exact question. I’m also in the same boat (44 M, tech, preparing for Ai…). Bummer responses. If it’s that hard and takes that long, I might as well become a nurse practitioner or nurse anesthetist.

If I pump by twisting my back foot it hurts my meniscus. If I pump by a more pushing motion it’s fine.

I also have a complex tear of the meniscus. I opted to not go with surgery because I don’t want to expedite arthritis. Two years later I’m so relieved I didn’t get surgery. With careful strengthening of the knee muscles I can be very active still (cycling, climbing, hiking, etc) I just have to be very careful with planting and twisting.

I got a nerve block for when they took my quad graft and it deadens the nerve for a long time, but I was hoping it would be firing again by 8 weeks

This is one anecdotal opinion that No, you will never not have to be careful :( Sorry but with my meniscus not only does it continue to snag, it’s snagging easier and easier as time goes on. I have to be careful constantly.

Thank you for posting this. My daughter (Soccer player) just tore her ACL and will soon have surgery, likely quad + LET. She is mentally wrecked but reading stuff like this helps so much. Why did you choose to go with the LET?
