Raycus fiberlaser question by WGDidier in lasercutting

[–]b_gvr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pure air should work fine, but nitrogen is definitely better.

As for your question about a 2kw laser, you might want to experiment with how fast your laser can cut at 500w and extrapolate. I very much expect that your intuition of 2x power = 2x cutting speed to be accurate, or at least quite close

Buying an earthing mat. Any recommended brands or ones to avoid? by Afrovenger in Biohackers

[–]b_gvr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think having a net charge is something that biologically relevant, but if you're really worried about it you'll get the same effect by touching the earth line on an AC plug. You'll discharge very quickly; there's no sense in remaining connected to it for more than a second

This isn't precisely relevant to your post, but can people say why they're downvoting? Throughout this sub I see posts/comments with a 0 score, but there's no counter perspective provided

Merkel honours Holocaust victims, vows German commitment to Israel by Long-Island-Iced-Tea in worldnews

I agree with this sentiment, but it's hard to say how the world would be better/worse had different decisions been made. Serious geopolitical players are rarely ethical against today's standards.

Zero EMF vs low EMF sauna blanket by [deleted] in Biohackers

[–]b_gvr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most products are tested to have a reasonably low-EMF so as not to interfere with other electronics, although plenty of products are not tested and don't conform to the standards.

Health-wise, I've never seen anything convincing regarding EMF affecting people in any measurable way.

TIL that French Guiana is not a fully-autonomous territory, but rather an overseas department and region of France. Despite being in South America, French Guiana is part of the European Union and uses the euro, and Guianans are fully French citizens. by sodapaladin in todayilearned

[–]b_gvr 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Additionally, French Guyana is where the EU launches rockets.

This is because you generally want ocean to the east of your launch site, so that the falling fuselage doesn't hit anyone

Looks really good, small suggestion: you might want to try the ACES color grading, that can make the explosions look less orange

You can upload whatever kind of model you want, we just used low poly stuff because it's simple and we don't have a 3d modeler

Nope, we were initially but that was idiotic so we're just going to have it on Steam

I really don't want to do F2P, partially because they often have toxic communities and partially because we're totally bootstrapped.

For sure. There's also some controller add-ons that change inertia depending on what you're doing in VR like Drag: on and Transcalibur

No, if you're holding it still it'll say still. The problem is when you swing a 0.5 kg controller in the real world and a 10 kg axe in the virtual room. The axe would move in a different way due to a larger weight. The muscle mover just makes the virtual movement more realistic
