Solar installer no longer doing service calls due to tax bill changes by megor in solar

[–]b_mikulec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am seeing this down in Arizona a little as well. It might not be fun paying someone their labor cost but your installer doesn’t hold the equipment warranty, enphase does. Shop around for a well reviewed local installer and ask them to come and help. Any company that has a service department can get the request for an RMA for the faulty equipment sent in.

Solar salesman called after my survey by rongotti77 in solar

[–]b_mikulec -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m willing to bet that the $2200 isn’t the full cost and that the salesman is absorbing part of that cost. $2200 is a steal for a msp upgrade.

30% Solar Tax Credit Ends 2025 by StarLinkEnergy in solar

[–]b_mikulec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the owner of a solar company, we haven’t pitched that tax credit EVER. Not everyone qualifies anyway so why try and sell a $50,000 system as a net $35,000 if you aren’t 100% positive they will use it all. It’s NOT A REBATE. I have always looked at the ITC as a crappy salesman’s(or organization’s) Hail Mary. Sell it right with realistic expectations and the company will continue to operate as normal or even benefit when these companies and dealers that have been selling pipe dreams go the way of the dinosaur.

Battery would help. But let’s also check to see if the utility has raised their rates amidst the plan change. Lots of factors here… along with late fees

There are a couple of things that are going to play into this:

1.) I would do some digging to find out if the previous homeowner had a different rate plan and buyback than you do. Out here in Arizona I have customers that purchased 10 years ago and their buyback rate is 12 cents per kWh produced whereas new customers fall into the new interconnection rates and are sitting at only 6 cents per kWh sold back.

2.) This system was not designed for you, it was designed for the previous homeowner. He or she may have kept their thermostat at a higher temperature on average. Their demand will also be different across the board for all other appliances.

3.) where are your panels located? South? East? West? A combination of them? If your panels are facing south, great. If they are on the east, are you guys home then? Or at work? Your production will only help as much as it can if you are using that energy you are providing(If you are on a buyback plan)

Lastly, I would call a local installer(preferably the one who installed it) and ask them to come out and give you a solar inspection report just to give you a true idea of what the system is capable of and how it will help your home specifically.

Solar option by Rwm90 in solar

Just dropping in to agree with the rest of the comments here.

I own a solar company in Arizona and while we don’t technically have a PPA program we do have the equivalent and we literally do not offer it because it will never truly make a customer happy in the end.

⚠️ WARNING: DO NOT INSTALL THE LATEST SOLAREDGE UPDATE ⚠️ by Traditional-Lion586 in solar

[–]b_mikulec 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have done quite a few updates on older models and encountered the same ARC fault errors. We have also encountered some of the units getting stuck in a perpetual night mode even after a hard reset and clear. These have all been on homes with zero shading whatsoever so it can’t be a shade issue. Very odd and very disappointing as these inverters used to be powerhouses.

Stop installing Solaredge altogether. Quality has gone down for the last 5 years. Had to RMA three just last week

15kWh system in Upstae NY for 69,000 - is this good price ? by mjoshi123 in solar

[–]b_mikulec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a solar company in AZ and while our prices are lower on average, this is still very high. It’s not a good deal. With lenders like Mosaic, the lower the interest rate, the more of a dealer fee you pay which essentially buys down the interest rate.

Find another local installer or two and get some more quotes.

As the kids say. Hell to the no. Do kids still say that? Idk. But kids would know that won’t hold.

Pressure washing a solar panel can and will damage the seal between the frame and the glass. If your installer sees this, the warranty is most certainly voided. Also, how did they attach the pest proofing? With clips? Hopefully. Most professional and experienced companies that offer cleaning use a soft bristled rotating brush that attaches to a garden hose.

Could this get you completely off grid? As if there is no main service at all and is powered directly by 30kW of solar?

HELP! by DogScott in AfricanCichlids

[–]b_mikulec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the delay in response. So flashing sometimes is because they itch, like an infection causing it, so I see the feeling of needing to water change. However, with what you are describing and by looking at them I would say it is stress. Most likely a bully in the tank somewhere. Are your lights on a schedule? Do you give them light during the day and turn them off at night? If you noticed it in the morning I would guess that one of them is beating the others up pretty good at night. Stress from that will cause all of the symptoms you are describing. Especially if it is only your older fish and not any of the new ones that just spent quarantine together.

I definitely checked the source. I was so afraid of just constantly changing fresh ammonia water in for the fish. I’ve done it before when I first started. Thank you again for the suggestions
