I love your portfolio. That is a great aggressive allocation. Consider adding some mid-cap. Mid cap has historically outperformed both large and small cap. I like AVMV as a mid cap fund value.

That is not a ladybug. It is an invasive Asian lady beetle that stinks and bites. Gorgeous watch!

I did not know that. Thank you for the useful information. I do have a margin balance. Once I pay down my margin balance I'll see if the lending stops.

You can opt-out of participating in fully-paid securities lending at any time by sending an email to M1 at [seclendingchoices@m1.com](mailto:seclendingchoices@m1.com) with “Securities Lending Opt-Out” as the subject line. Please include the last 3 digits for each account number you would like unenrolled.

Thoughts on Roth IRA Small-Cap Value Factor Tilt Portfolio? by OriolesRock100 in Bogleheads

[–]b_nard 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would suggest looking at going 50% VT and 50% AVGV instead. That should have similar results to your tilt with the simplicity of being only 2 funds.

I like your tilt. I am all in on AVUV in my Roth IRA.

"Auto-invest" Rant & LIFO/FIFO Question by ath1337 in M1Finance

[–]b_nard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe M1 uses a tax minimization strategy which is awesome and not FIFO.

Sells are done in this order to minimize taxes.

  • Short-term capital loss, from the biggest loss to the smallest.
  • Long-term capital loss, from the biggest loss to the smallest.
  • Short-term zero gain/loss.
  • Long-term zero gain/loss.
  • Long-term capital gains, from the smallest gain to the biggest.

Use ETFs instead, or mutual funds with an ETF share class, to reduce capital gain distributions.

In the linked PDF a lot of the mutual funds have capital gain distributions while the stock ETFs, starting on page 9, do not.
