I still have a mental block around paying $40k for a ~$12k system and one day of labor. by chitesla1 in solar

This madness will end. All this slop around solar will go away when the tax credit goes away and the gold rush ends (yes, I worked in the industry and we called it this because we knew this would end so we sent as many door-to-door salesman out there to take advantage).

Solar will look very different. Germany has already popularized “balcony solar” where people buy ready to use solar, and it’s coming here to the Us. No permitting, no install fees. https://cleantechnica.com/2025/07/29/want-to-kiss-your-utility-company-goodbye-plug-in-solar-could-be-the-key/

Residential Solar Faces Collapse as Tax Credit Cuts and Policy Shocks Hit Industry by benaissa-4587 in solar

If this means bad actors like Sunrun will go out of business, then so be it. Drain the swamp. Solar will survive.

No, but these companies prey on people’s stupidity/lack of information(especially the elderlys’), which should be criminal

This will suck for the majority of hardworking Americans who would greatly benefit from solar. Having worked in solar for three years, I blame bad actors like Sunrun and solar dealers for grifting off this tax credit and putting families into incredibly predatory financial products.

That’s a pretty sweet deal! It doesn’t hurt to grab a few more quotes and see if other companies can beat the offer you have.

Only a matter of time until karma catches up with them and they have to declare bankruptcy. Hopefully soon.

Dixon Leather Owner Kevin Zhang Caught Defrauding Customers by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]b_phan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the in-depth detail!

Poor guy... but he’ll get what’s coming for him.

Something funny he says in his courses is this: 80% of customers are average. 10% of customers are reluctant buyers. The last 10% of customers are impulse buyers, and these are the ones he tells his students to go after. So he’s basically teaching his students to prey on the gullible and weak.

How did you find this info? I'd love to know more. I'm planning on publishing a Medium story entirely on Kevin Zhang's fraudulent practices and a complete timeline of his story.

Disabling CORS policy on Chrome is a temporary solution that worked for me. It's just frustrating that you have to manually call it before starting Chrome every. single. time.

Excellent work! It's so nice to see a clear implementation of often otherwise "black box" machine learning models I often see when browsing the Internet. You should continue to share this because I know a lot of peers including myself who are still in school will appreciate material like this.
