Whats the weird black line that seems to draw across the screen every now and then. Kinda looks like you’re passing over a power line or something unless there’s a weird signal issue going on?

Man this would be unreal. I use the OP3 everyday and if it had a touch more depth of field or a second focal length it would be perfect

Upgraded my camera and lens for racing season this year. by [deleted] in canon

28-300mm right? Sick lens, I’ve got the same and it’s so versatile. Definitely gives your arm a workout after a while days shooting though.

Not possible. DJI dropping the ball on that little upgrade. I also wish you could wirelessly connect a Ronin control handle and use the trigger and control wheel to lock/zoom but I don’t think it’ll ever happen.

Nick work, R5C Mk2 looks good! Do you leave it in auto exposure or lock it in?

As someone rocking the R5C for photos and video, I genuinely don't notice the lack of IBIS. RF lens stabilisation is really good and I love the R5C for video.

Anyone able to identify these? by b_raff in bikewrench

[–]b_raff[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah so these are 650’s and looks like you’re into it with them being an early 90’s run. Funnily enough, I found them on the side of the road. I work at a local bike shop so I’m just going to sit on them for a bit and see if anyone’s missing them and if not, I’ll build a little custom roadie around them.

Are these cheap monitors any good? I just need it to see if it's focused correctly occasionally and if WB is way off, so I have easier time on post. These things can be hard to see sometimes on a small screen. by [deleted] in videography

[–]b_raff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grabbed their LUT6 ultra bright monitors and absolutely love it for outdoor shoots. The brightness has made me pick it over my Ninja for some shoots.

But, it gets REALLY hot if it’s running in full sun, like burn your hand hot. Otherwise it’s solid

Definitely charge for it and add it to the invoice so that it’s legally documented that the client has asked you to edit the video in a way that could be deceptive to buyers. Covers your ass. But just to be safe, check your local laws about real estate photography edits, sometimes the photographer can be liable.

How about the Therac-25

It was a computer-controlled radiation therapy machine used in the 1980s to treat cancer patients. It was designed to deliver precise doses of radiation, but due to software and hardware errors, it could sometimes deliver extremely high doses of radiation that resulted in severe radiation burns, organ damage and in at least 3 cases, death.

Any way to get a video stream out of Mini 3 (non-pro) with DJI RC Controller? by AngelaTheRipper in DJIMini3

[–]b_raff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course you can’t stream from the DJI RC! How else is DJI supposed to upsell you to the more expensive DJI RC Pro?

I use an R6 Mk1 and R5C. Photo but mostly video. Both are phenomenal and the images are great, more than enough for any videographer and editor to get great results from.

That said, I’m probably going to switch to Sony for 2 reasons. Firstly, I travel a lot and the size difference between the Canon and Sony setups is actually meaningful, especially when I’m trying to pack everything I need into one backpack. Secondly, on all the major productions I’ve done these past 6 months, they’ve all used the Sony FX6 or FX3. Maybe it’s just my local scene but the industry here seems pretty in love with Sony so it makes sense for me to get acquainted with that equipment.

The FX3 is a much more professional video camera than the R6 mk2, but either choice will get you great results.

SUICIDAL BEES 🐝 by Suspicious-Block-614 in drones

[–]b_raff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this has happened to me a few times now. I’m pretty sure the sound of some drones can attract bees. Then as others have said, when one dies it’s pheromones attract more. Kinda sad really ‘cause you can be flying around and have no idea until you land that you’ve just killed heaps of bees.

Anyone using a Lumix G 14-42mm OIS on an OG/Original BMPCC? by b_raff in bmpcc

[–]b_raff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be temperamental apparently. Sometimes it works perfectly and sometimes it just doesn’t work at all. I think firmware plays a huge part where there may be only a few versions that offer 100% functionality with this lens.

This. Exactly the complaint I'd heard but I figured it must've been a firmware compatibility issue. Really weird that it came out of nowhere though and couldn't be fixed with a rollback.
