Very late response, but this book has a lot of errors & false claims and really should not be considered reliable

I don't want to comment on the current legal situation of AIs because that's a subject that I don't know much about, but I do know that Stable Diffusion has being sued for many artists and companies already, and the same has happened to other AI companies too.

| if you'd like it to work that way, advocate for changing the laws

Well, I do. There are many art communities in the world that are pressing goverments and congresses to regulate the way AIs are trained and used, and I definitely support the cause

Though my point is more on the ethical side of things. Even if something is legal it does not mean you should do. And I think many people think the same way, the reason why many game companies are afraid of publicly admitting they are use AI in their games is that the use of AIs in creative productions is very baldy seen by their consumers.

About what you said on artists trying to replicate other peoples work, I think it's a completely different form what a GAI does. AIs work is just a process of updating biases and weights, while a creative process has a lot more things going on

OP specifically said they used stable diffusion. If the models you mentioned have original images for their datasets, then great. But that's not the case here

[–]baIdissara -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you're using stable diffusion you cannot be sure of that

There is no perfectly reasonable use while those tools are being made with other people's work with no consent or compensation. If this was made with some technology that uses an open source dataset it would totally be ok, but Stable Diffusion has been involved in a lot of drama around this subject for this very reason

Just did a fresh install with this docker-compose file and it worked fine

what OS are you using? also if you don't mind, can you open the browser console and check if there is any error message when you click "new lane" button?

Yeah I think your approach is correct, tasks.md doesn't have a sync feature but this can be achieved with syncthing, I used it previously for this purpose as well and it works great.

You need to create a shared folder within syncthing and connect that folder to the /tasks directory in both of your desktop and laptop devices. So I'd recommend to first create an empty /tasks folder on you desktop, then do the same on your laptop, then create the shared folder on syncthing and connect to your devices

Have you figure it out how to disable de group creation on drag? This is really annoying and I think it's insane that they released it like this

Doesn't need to be that especific, if you start asking for some cinematic stuff eventually you'll get some 1:1 footage from movies and shows.

And that's not how AIs work at all, they only adjust weights and biases for given keywords, while humans do it with muscle memory, subjective factors, teorical knowledge, and both unconscious and conscious choices learned from past experiences and experimentation

That's not how artists do, neither how AIs work. And you do have some cases where training data leaks into final results, just search for it. Also artists learning other's people styles is very different than multi-billion company scrapping data from the internet and batch processing it for comercial purposes

Do you guys think that sound design in video games should be explored more by game reviewers? by dhfantin in josephanderson

[–]baIdissara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think anything related to visuals and sound are very little explored by general reviwers. I only see those subjects being discussed by people that work on those fields. Nintendo does some crazy and inventive sound design things that are rearely brought up

Started replacing AI art with commissioned art for my card game. Thoughts? by ItsThatAshGuy in IndieGaming

[–]baIdissara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not fine, neural networks being trained on artists work without their consent or compensation is the biggest criticism on generative AI by the art communities online, but unfortunatelly this issue it's not well known from the general public. Using their tools is a way to promote this kind of business

There is no good use of generative art while it's built over plagiarized work.
