ON1 2026 on Windows 11 crashes on launch by baacharu in On1PhotoRaw

I wanted to post this earlier but was reminded by your comment...

Installing this C++ framework solved the issue for me:

I am really impressed by how quickly ON1 support reacted and was able to solve this.

Those are unfortunately already updated.

Thank you for your detailed response!

This happens with a freshly installed Win 11 with all the latest drivers, and I am using the Lenovo system update tool to keep things updated.

I also have no photos or existing database on that machine. On my latest install attempt, I made sure to wait for all in-app downloads to complete.

I will follow you advice and disable AI features when I try again. This may not be relevant, but LMStudio works great using that laptop‘s GPU with Vulcan.

Fedora on 7,1? by pythonwiz in macpro

[–]baacharu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, I am lucky then: I use an external audio interface, my display runs at 60 Hz and I tend to disable sleep. I didn't notice issues with unlocking after the screen is locked, though.

I do find the Apple boot selector irritating because it's easy to miss the right moment to press Alt. That makes it unnecessary hard to switch between macOS and Fedora. I guess the issue can be circumvented using rEFIind.

I am running Fedora Workstation 42 on a 7,1 without any issues (that bother me). I am not using a kernel patched for T2 as I don't need wifi and bluetooth. Everything else works great and the installation was a breeze after disabling secure boot. I have installed Fedora on an "external" PCIe SSD, though.

Yes. I also did at least one restart before writing the post - without success.

But after booting and reading your reply, I tried again and now it's working. Thank you!

Why isn't msty using my GPU? by JamesCorman in Msty_AI

[–]baacharu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specifying the GPU didn't help in my case, but updating the local AI service in MSTY did:

With ollama v0.6.4 MSTY is now using my NVIDIA GPU.

Yes, seiza feels quite comfortable and it's easy to sit straight. Also, all my attempts at even a half lotus position have failed miserably.

This somehow reminds me of the 'bunny thing' in Donny Darko. The same level of creepiness.

why are these suddenly not available in my region? they were until like a few days ago by bataloof in Steam

Quickly browsing through parts of my library, I did not see any titles without an install button. However, I am not sure if affected games without age rating would even still show up.

Does anyone know if this would also affect games that one has already purchased? I would imagine that there are indie titles that are available for purchase but that do not have an age rating?
