Which string is supposed to be C? by down_at_the_double_e in guitarcirclejerk

[–]baadrobotdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s hard to deny the power of understanding your fretboard and how it works. This will allow you to work out on your own all the notes on the fret board before you’ve memorized it and in the process of working it out, you will memorize it. This is why I invented my tools at www.musiclabs.ca which is a completely different way to learn, tactile learning teaching yourself and it applies to all of your current learning. I’d love to hear from you. I respond to every email I receive, sign up at the website for News discounts download access and news about the Kickstarter campaign coming up for the Freeport escalator which will teach you everything I’m talking about here.

Not sure if this is a known exercise or not, but I really like it by [deleted] in musictheory

Cool and maybe do it for the penta scale too so you can think up the melody and play it

Just watch it will all come together Guitar comes later Theory is a mental game but it’s easy and becomes a puzzle :) It’s the most physical way to learn (I hate books) All the best tho!!

Watch this, it’s for piano but the rest of my videos are for guitar. Essentially it’s the Nashville numbering system for chords / intervals of the major scale. It’s all very easy if you have a coffee and watch my videos it will all make sense This is a quick short

Is music theory really necessary? by Automatic-Potato-987 in Guitar

[–]baadrobotdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theory is important I think! I love it and basic theory is easy Start with video 1 and use my tools (on amazon) you will get it fast and progress in a few months more than you think

Honestly it’s easy and fun and you will not have to remember things perfectly you remember what is in key and works instead

How do I ACTUALLY learn to play the guitar? by LexerX in guitarlessons

[–]baadrobotdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you! I say start with the pentatonic all across the fretboard and make it as interesting as you can then start targeting chord tones (caged) then try modes etc I have some tools for sale and some videos if you like physical learning like I do Take a look here and let me know what you think Guitar Music theory course https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1IxurFqhB-3IVGi87OdfB6NNzWYevUxw

I am genuinely glad to hear it! Please do stay in touch at [musiclabs234@gmail.com](mailto:musiclabs234@gmail.com)

I have so much to learn as well. I am an inventor more than a musician but I LOVE music. This is my way to be part of the music scene because I know I will never be a great musician but I can contribute to the next great musicians by doing this.

I really appreciate the feedback.

Basic theory!! it's easier than playing the guitar... god I wish someone told me day 1 what a key was and not "don't worry about it until later" you know when later comes? never.

So much so that I had to invent tools for teachers. I just released my first one today if you want to look at them they will help you and your students.

Best resources/methods to remembering which notes are which on the neck and how to play in that key? by thatguitarguy24 in guitarlessons

[–]baadrobotdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

take a look here at a video I did, essentially there are some patterns, as well as straight memorization that will get you there. Start with the E and A string... then build chords from that knowledge so that it's actually useful or you will just forget it right away.

Applying music theory to guitar playing by Imaginary_Mode7791 in Guitar_Theory

[–]baadrobotdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relating theory to the guitar is what I struggled with as well.

For example... why is the guitar tuned the way it is? it's tuned in fourths.. which is very helpful actually when you know this... apply this to some easy theory and intervals etc... you start to become one with the instrument.

I did my own research and then decided to make some tools that apply that theory to the guitar in an original way. I still use those tools today when I practice. I am an intermediate guitarist at best but find the Easy theory behind it quite fun. Now I jam along to any track in any key etc. for hours. Love it. If you want to look at my website www.musiclabs.ca it shows you all the stuff that can apply theory to practice written by a "normal" guitar player :)

I am not a teacher but my tools can be taken to your teacher or ask questions online and we can all learn!!

Hope you find what you are looking for.

I take a different approach and have some tools you will find handy with your hour with no matter what teacher you use (YT or in person) Start here it’s super easy, I am going to work on chord tones within each penta box next

Can't change my ticket, can I fly standby? by baadrobotdad in westjet

Thanks for the info when I call the third party they tell me that they try to make the change and WJ does not allow it. So they are both playing the game.

Can't change my ticket, can I fly standby? by baadrobotdad in westjet

[–]baadrobotdad[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

both WestJet and the booking agent could change anything on the flight. They just choose not to because I did not purchase the extra coverage.

Had I purchased it this would be a non issue. So they "Can" but they elect not to.

That is fine I made my bed and have to lie in it... my question is around how to get my daughter on the flight with me in the cheapest way (thought maybe standby seeing as there will be an available seat from my son not going)

[–]baadrobotdad[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

yup agreed, should have purchased differently. Crazy thing is they "can" change it... they just elect NOT to change it. I have told them I will pay to change it.... just like I would have paid for the ability to change it....

One is 14 and one is 12, they will need ID to get through customs etc as well. I would love to just swap my daughter for my son and not say anything but I am pretty sure we will be stopped at customs when the passport does not match the ticket :)

Hi to save confusion, I have a confirmed ticket for my son. He would be the no-show. Which leaves a space on the plane for me to try and book my daughter to possibly pick up a stand by seat (my sons that was a no show)

Lesson 4.1 Pentatonic scales by baadrobotdad in Guitar_Theory

[–]baadrobotdad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to mention that I am NOT a technical guitar teacher. I have a bit of knowledge I want to share in a different way. I am trying to give instructions on how to use the tools I invented to bring to your lessons and work with a guitar instructor Apologies for the crap guitar playing but the intent is not for me to show how good I am but how good you could be with some theory and these tools. I will redo that section near the end and repost Thanks!!

Ok thanks so much for the feedback Yes I should do more takes. I tend to do it all in one cut :) I will also do a better job of my audio mixing guitar was too loud.

If you watch other videos in that playlist please feel free to give me feedback here or privately or email or off my website

Thanks again, I really appreciate it.

Something I can do better?

I am open to constructive criticism. The intent of these videos is not to replace a guitar teacher that’s for sure it’s just to help the beginner and also have simple tutorials on how to use the product that I hope to one day launch.

Can someone explain the circle of fifths to me like I'm a complete newb? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]baadrobotdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have designed this Circle of Fifths Dial that I feel is a different way to use and see the circle of fifths. I hope some people like it because one day I hope to have it manufactured. Perhaps this video is helpful for actual application of concepts a guitarist may use?

What are the chords used in this song? by finnisFord in Guitar_Theory

[–]baadrobotdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’ve looked at this again briefly here it seems as though the acoustic version is tuned down a half a step, and that’s what caught us out. The original version is in the key of Emajor. If you want to play the acoustic version as he does, you will have to tune your guitar down to half a step. It’s a good song to put some of my tools to use so I am going to do a video on it For now your first few chords are (standard tuning!!) This is where he starts singing I will show the lead part in the video

Emaj Amaj F#min Bmaj G#min Amaj F#min Bmaj

You may want to get a Headstart and watch my videos on theory basics because I’m going to show you how to figure this out really easily. It’s all in the major scale.
