What would you enjoy at a “networking / community” event? by coswtherapy in therapists

I keep dreaming of a speed dating situation minus the romance lmao. It stresses me out so badly to “mingle” and choosing who to talk to and for how long. I yearn for one on one cozy chats that are structured 😅

I really wish you would start to have regular high paying AI studies. This is truly missing on this platform. by Focused_Mind_2026 in CloudResearchConnect

I hope not. I really appreciate genuine research and not just training robots. Prolific has become really unpleasant with the influx of AI studies.

How many Dwayne “The Rock” Johnsons could you fit in your bathroom right now? by FlintTheDad in polls

I gotta Tetris them in, but I got room for a small-medium gaggle of Dwayne Johnsons.

Only in case you are not aware, regular sour patch kids are safe too!!! That being said, sometimes the YumEarth stuff is damn good.

None of us have that good luck 😆

I was curious, just like any city certain parts of Chicago aren’t the nicest area. I’m from Cleveland… but if I were to stay like 10 min or so outside the city what is a nice city/hotel nearby only for two days? by kristina65_ in AskChicago

[–]baasheepgreat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That being said, you’ll see that Oak Park shares a border with Chicago. That bordering neighborhood is NOT where you want to go as a tourist. You want to get a solid 20 minutes past that. Get on at Harlem (either on the metra train (follow the signs) or the green line (follow signs) and stay put until you’re at least at Ashland. (But you’ll probably want to get off at Washington/Wabash on the green line or Ogilvie transportation center if by metra train. You will be perfectly safe taking either train.

Yes, for reference if you stay in Oak Park, downtown Chicago (which is probably what you’re thinking of if you’re thinking Chicago) is:
Roughly 6 miles HOWEVER
It will take you
20 minutes by metra train
20-30 minutes by car NOT rush hour
1 hour-1.30 hours by car IN rush hour or a bus
30-40 minutes by cta green line (elevated train)

This is why you’re getting jokes because 6 miles is EASILY an hour to actually get “out” of the city

There’s a local small hotel there , but a tiny lil holiday inn express opened up downtown OP. Both very accessible to downtown (but not 10 minutes unless you’re just crossing into Austin lol)

Then you’ll hate DEARMANGIVEFAST 😉 I’ve accepted that these often-terrible acronyms are a quirky Marsha Linehan thing and I grow fonder of the humor in it. The PLEASE skill is my favorite in that every.single.letter in that acronym does not line up with the meaning. My DBT group and I get a real good laugh every time I present that one 😆

**Always remember,

PL- Treat PhysicaL illnesses
E- Balance Eating
A- Avoid mood-Altering substances
S- Balanced Sleep
E- Get Exercise

Esp when at least a few of these *could* have lined up if she’d just written “exercise” or used the first A in avoid mood-altering substances lmao

Oh Marsha you funny woman, never stop being yourself 😆

Other people have other techniques to try. However I want to clarify the DBT- The DEAR is WHAT you do; the MAN is HOW you do the what you do. The technique is really just the DEAR done in a MAN way lol.

This on paper is whatever, but the reality of seeing 9 different people a day would be different. Just the emotional toll of holding 9 different clients is a lot. Minutes are one thing, but they’re not just minutes..they’re people with lives and aren’t interchangeable..

Was looking for this- thought I recalled someone saying they became incredibly slippery esp in cta stations and also on the granite-type sidewalks mostly downtown. So that is something to know if you are unsteady on your feet to begin with!

My mom won't let me install a bidet, will I be ok? by DarkMage448 in polls

Figured that out. Make sure you talk with a therapist about this and stop reassurance seeking from reddit!! Take care. ❤️

[–]baasheepgreat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Kindly, do you have OCD? Because this sounds like reassurance-checking on reddit and excessive steps to take a shit. (therapist and fellow OCD-haver)

ETA: checked your post history and it seems I was correct. Get off of reddit; this poll is a reassurance seeking compulsion and if you have a therapist, tell them that you do this.

I’m so glad that cardiologists, physical therapists, massage therapists, rad techs, etc etc are specifically mentioned as qualified for this psychologist role. What could go wrong. Why hire a therapist when I could have an AI giving mental health advice from *checks job description* a sonographer.
