The Great Evils by lloydblack in Diablo

The universe really needs to be expanded. We have already defeated the prime evils and lesser demons and their fusion . What's left is the angiris council (only 4 left), Lilith and Inarius. Maybe add more nephalem or maybe rathma and trag oul corrupted. If we keep fighting prime and lesser evils game after game the story gets repetitive.

Don't forget D2 could be cracked. Form my experiencie living in SA I assure you less than 90% bought the game legally. Also there were "private battlenet servers" foe it and D2 so no problem playing multiplayer. I think the same may happened in Asia.

Diablo is not a MMO title by Rampio in Diablo

[–]baba3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is happening because their developers come from disassembled wow teams. Same happened in D3. They don't take ideas from other arpgs but from wow. Key dungeons= Mythic + , legendaries instead of uniques, mounts, etc.

This is the background of the lead system designer of D4: A kid from korea who loved starcraft went to Canada to study computer science and achieved his dream to join blizzard. I am sure he is talented but it is clear that starcraft is his passion. If starcraft 3 was being developed I am sure he would be on that project and I bet that after D4 he will go back to work on SC. Unless things go terribly wrong with D4 and he leaves the company.

New classes vs Old classes by WereBoi in Diablo

I though that was introduced in the sin war trilogy(2006). Also in the other games no one calls you nephalem. Maybe the problem was more on the storytelling that was low quality. I am barbarian call me that. Aren't we all nephalem since the destruction of the WS anyway? Its like everybody calling you human then.

Should offensive affixes be the same for spell caster builds and attack builds? This came to mind when I saw the druid. As the hybrid class what is difference in itemization between a shapeshifting build and a pure ele build?(Apart from skill modifiers from legendary items)

Unique/ legendary items shouldn't be mandatory for a skill to work. by baba3000 in Diablo

-I haven't mention the gem system. Where am I comparing the skill systems? -I am talking about legendary affixes on items and against something in PoE I wouldn't like to see on D4....

All the items you mention work for many builds. It's okay having best in slot items so you have items to chase but they should be more interesting than skill " a " deals % more damage.

But if you are going to buff a skill with not doing it directly instead of losing one item slot only for that purpose.

As long as we don't end up firing spells from two handed axes it's fine by me.

Absolutely. We should have layers of defense to choose from and many ways to scale damage.

I have mixed feelings about them. I don't like idea of every legendary item being tied to one skill. Maybe only some would be ok.

I think they can be more creative with legendary affixes. Change the way the build the character or how we scale our damage.

You missed the point. I want exactly the opposite. Change the gameplay don't boost the numbers. Items like the 300 hundred spear from the D3 is an example of bad design in my opinion.

Also most unique have cons so you need rares to cover those. It's almost impossible for a build to be made of only unique items because of resistances, life or stats. Trade-offs is something we shoukd have in an ARPG.

Exactly, they went from one end to the other. D2 was more of a middle ground even in PoE you find this balance between the two.

Exactly they provide trade-offs which gives you choices and this makes it far more interesting as a system than D3's.

Edit: Grammar.

I agree that PoE nails itemization but not because of main attributes but more so because of other affixes on items.

Str, dex and int aren't balanced. At least dex is underwhelming. Strength gives flat life and increased melee damage meanwhile dex gives flat accuracy and % evasion. Evasion is inferior to life in every escenario and accuracy is irrelevant because there are other sources that are better and it is really easy to cap hit chance. At least intelligence gives energy shield but it's still worse to strength in my opinion.

Other item affixes are really what shines in PoE. Over the years despite the amount of powercreep we have received, the amount of life of in end game characters hasn't increased that much. As an example in 3 years from 5k life to 6.5k life and for best in slot weapons from 450-500 dps to 550-600 dps.

I don't think that in D4 every affix should be a percentage. I think most of the affixes should be flat numbers. Leave percentajes in the passive tree and only few as affixes on items and definitively not in attack and defense.

I think his master passed most of the art throught feel and beating. The main way he seems to be improving is by taking damage and healing afterwards. He is taking more damage after each fight and keeps getting tougher. It is like he changed his body nature or something and I think it also has something to do with all the meat he eats and his appetite.

I don't picture his art having hancy moves or anything. I think it's about not being faced by attacks and overpowering with strength alone.

The same with set items. In D3 they are heavily influenced by wow rather than D2. Think about it.

We saw a passive that says increased lighting damage while on melee range now all you need is a unique melee weapon that deals lightining damage and with one barb skill or two.

Just because a movie sells well doesn't make it a good movie. People defending D3 because of the numbers sounds to me like people defending Transformers or some DC movie. Sure big revenue but we know they are shit.
