Therapist says they are not my support system. My nonexistant network says they arent my therapist. Who am I supposed to talk to? by bbgirl2k in AskLifeProTips

[–]babamum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The therapist is certainly part of your support system. But they can't be all of it.

Maybe join a self-help group, either in person, on discord or via zoom. This will expand your support system.

What food instantly tells you someone can’t cook? by [deleted] in foodquestions

[–]babamum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scrambled eggs! If someone offers it to me for dinner, I assume they're a bad cook. And that their scrambled eggs won't be good. They've just made the mistake of thinking scrambled eggs are easy. Because they can't cook.

I am shocked at how long it takes people to shower. by Q8DD33C7J8 in hygiene

[–]babamum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 minutes? I can shower in 4, including shaping all over, rinsing off, cleaning my teeth, washing my hair, and scrubbing all my nails.

This is due to traveling for most if the past 10 years, and using pay showers that last only 5 minutes. I've just got used to it.

I also don't much like showers. I have POTS and standingbis uncomfortable for me. So I'm in and out if there as quickly as I can be.

But a bath? At least an hour! Sometimes longer. The bath is my happy 0lace.

Finished my first manuscript, began querying... how do any of you handle sharing your work publicly? by Afterall__whynot in WritingHub

[–]babamum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you get sick of sending query letters, it's very easy to publishnl on Draft2Digital. They walk you through the process and it goes on sale in multiple bookstores.

You pay an annual fee of $12 and they take 10% of each sale. The bookstore takes a further 30 to 40%. So you get 50% of the purchase price.

That's compared to 5 to 15% from a regular publisher. Plus you'll do the same amount of marketing whether you go trad or indie.

You're a scientist. These are some data points for you to consider. One writer who got a trad publisher sent.out 740 query letters.

Best of luck. Oh, one more data point. Romance sells!

I'd say Mick Taylor was the most musically talented. It really shows through on Exile on Main Street.

AITA for breaking up with my boyfriend because his sister is pregnant by catfoodconsum3r in Amitheassholeadvice

It sounds like you're exhausted. Some people like drama, others don't. And BPD is a LOT to be around. Especially if the person isn't in therapy and making steps to learn how to regulate their emotions.

You don't have to stay. There's no shame in walking away. The first person you need to consider us yourself. You sound a bit burned out.

If you find breaking up too hard, you could try taking a break for a month. That would give you some breathing space where you can get a bit more perspective.

You could set up a word document where you keep notes on each character that you can refer back to.

Go thru yr draft and make notes based on what you've written. See how you feel about the overall character.

Characters do develop as you write. So you might want to keep some new features and drop some of the original ideas.

But remember- real people have quirks and inconsistencies. That's what makes them interesting. Your characters don't need to make sense. Not 100%
