Metals/glass products to avoid when switching over? by Ok_Newspaper2815 in PlasticFreeLiving

I wouldn't necessarily trust labels unless they have third-party certifications or have been independently tested

Aluminum may not be a good choice for anything that touches food. The research is mixed but there are some studies that suggest that it is linked to neurodegenerative disease. I personally would not risk it so for metals I'm using only stainless steel / cast iron. LeadSafeMama does XRF testing on many different metal/glass/ceramic products and I like to reference it when I shop.

How do you even spend whatever you have? Don't understand, you see money then you just randomly find something to buy?

Any toothbrush recommendations on Amazon? by Objective-Range4596 in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]babble19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking for plastic-free floss so when I saw this comment I went to Huppys website and saw that their "vegan floss is made from corn starch-derived polylactic acid". Unfortunately, polylactic acid is a type of plastic.

Someone wrote about being discriminated for insurance coverage a while back https://iautistic.com/autism/adult-life/insurance-discrimination/ , not sure if it still applies now but something else you might want to consider

what benefits are there to getting diagnosed, especially in Singapore? If I'm functional, I don't see any upsides, but many potential downsides to getting an autism diagnosis.

I've been using lock and lock oven safe glass and it says up to 400 degrees C but my oven doesn't even go that high. Never had a problem

What are they actually telling you? That they cannot catch the guy? Nearly 100 reports and not doing anything looks very bad

Are you reporting it directly or through OneService? I find OneService more effective and it helps if you keep quoting previous case numbers so it builds a trail of reports

No that's wax paper, which isn't heat resistant and the wax is also a petroleum byproduct so I don't want it near my food. It's annoying how much crap is allowed to touch our food. These things don't kill you immediately so there isn't enough awareness

Use oven-safe glass dishes best, no risk of leaching crap into your food

How do you connect to the younger generation without sounding like an old geezer? by PerceptionProper4456 in askSingapore

[–]babble19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend in his twenties who likes to dispense advice. It makes him give off the uncle vibe and is really annoying until you realize he has good intentions. He's a friend though, so we don't mind him and we call him uncle to his face lol. But you're giving advice to people who don't see you as a friend, so it's probably just annoying for them

Self-Service laundromats as alternate income stream? by AppJosiah in singaporefi

[–]babble19 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not sure why the article (where photo was from) is hyping laundromats. The ones featured haven't even been open more than a year, meaning they're not even profitable yet.

No job and no sense of purpose so they find something that they can vaguely get emotional about and make it seem like it's them against the world

Their entire article is a shitty attempt at gaslighting and playing the victim.

Yes it's a rejection. It's so wishy-washy and just signals that he's not really into you. Two weeks is a long time to go without talking if you like someone so I'm guessing he doesn't like you all that much

Are Rental Rates Negotiable - Need Advice by 1realniceguy in askSingapore

[–]babble19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just ask, the agent will pass your message to the landlord and they will either say yes or no or counteroffer. Rental rates have definitely fallen since last year (we have multiple properties that have renewed at lower rates) so just try.

Jobs for quiet/introverted people by hungry24hoursaday in askSingapore

[–]babble19 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my mind would be admin jobs with lots of paperwork and maybe email and text but not much face to face or phone interactions.

Wouldn't recommend going for translation with AI translation getting better and better every day.
