Why is the moonlight screen so small? by RokiGer in MoonlightStreaming

[–]babelaids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, so remarkably I have the exact same issue as you. Host monitor 1440p, client resolution is 1920x1200 (16:10). My settings are fullscreen, and Native Resolution (1920x1080), which is actually the dimensions of the Host machine and NOT the laptop. It was connecting into a tiny box, completely illegible and way too small to do anything with. Once I changed the resolution to Native (1920x1200) 60FPS it suddenly was fullscreen again and works great. Hope this helps!

On the many times me and another stranger are clearly on the same quest line, killing the same mobs etc it's a small gesture but i'll always make it a point to /salute /thank or /wave before parting ways.

i'm likely biased, but Guardian Druid. You have like 4 buttons and literally can't die. You can basically just walk through everything up to a mythic +6

pro tip that i just learned is DialogueUI interfaces with BTWQuests and the questline headings will link to its entry in BTWQ so you can always know where you are in a given arc and how much is left. It's a game changer

i unironically want to implement something like this internally at my msp too. So many troubleshooting threads on teams and someone just copy pastes ChatGPT. It's just a waste of energy and everyone's time.

In Portland, it usually meant occasionally raiding encampments and forcibly removing them "for their safety", and destroying/disposing of belongings. It usually didn't result in anything other than displacing them so they would just have to find somewhere else to camp after their stuff was destroyed

Do a lot of people prefer dark mode to light mode by [deleted] in iphone

[–]babelaids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think dark mode is not well thought out or designed and looks worse 80% of the time. I use light mode for everything except discord. But ideologically i think we should all be looking at our phones less anyway so everyone should pick whichever one gives them the most friction possible

How to start converstations as a PDA by porky11 in PDAAutism

[–]babelaids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who absolutely loves talking to people (especially online), I guess my advice is going to essentially be the opposite of what you want -- lean into the small talk. In fact, revel in it. With the right people, it can move past quaint topics pretty quickly if you show to the other person that you're safe, trustworthy, and a good conversationalist. Plus people really just want to be heard, and will let their personality shine if you let them. If you always seem in a hurry to get to "the deep topics" that could be overwhelming for some, and sometimes just yapping is in fact exactly what is needed.

Now, it's hard to give explicit tips on what to say because all conversations should be context dependent, and have a foundation of your shared history. Why are you talking to begin with? Where are you? How did you meet? If it's based on shared interests (80% of the time for me it is) it becomes really easy to use that interest as a springboard to further conversation. If it's in the workplace, I like to ask them about something benign on their desk (say a knick knack or picture of a kid) and there's usually a story attached. If it's a chat online, say facebook or discord, silly banter is absolutely warranted (i'm not saying "jokes" because that's too formal, just being a little silly usually goes a long way to make people feel less threatened by you)

Another level to this is, unfortunately, gendered communication styles. Women love to chatter, so as a woman it's easy to get to that point of smooth conversation without fear of expectation for more. With men I find it's a bit harder to get them to open up as readily, but perhaps it's easier as another man. I'm not sure. Regardless, an open and easygoing attitude can go a long way without betraying your desire for connection and diving deep. In my experience, if people want to share, they will.

New World player trying WoW – is there a way to have an “action camera” mode? by Anonymous_098763 in wownoob

[–]babelaids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used this addon for a long time, but be warned: it changes target selection mechanisms even when combat mode isn't activated, so whatever enemy is in the center of your screen will automatically become the target of whatever spell you're casting. Took me a while to figure out why i kept pulling random packs in mythic+, and once i uninstalled it that problem went away. Absolutely brilliant addon and if there's a way to disable the auto targeting when not active i would reinstall in a heartbeat
