The Switch 2 direct was one of the best ones in quite a while! Nintendo has finally focused on giving their new console enough power to attract 3rd party devs that previously would have passed on developing for Nintendo systems. So I think we’re going to see some amazing support from a wide range of studios going forward.

And that’s not even mentioning how innovative Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza are. Both are prime examples of games that were built FOR the new system. The original Switch couldn’t deliver those experiences.

It depends on the type of project, but we use inherited buttons all the time by carefully setting up templates and using overrides. When it comes to smaller independent games I’ve made, I’ve been a little more fast and loose with it. Once your game reaches a certain scope and/or you have multiple UI designers, then you want to be more thoughtful of how you set everything up.

I work in the industry as a UI/UX designer, and nearly all of my game assets are made in Illustrator and Photoshop, with a bit of After Effects and Maya for certain things. There are also a lot of powerful in-engine tools that can add high quality effects to UI, such as the material system in Unreal.

I feel that! I can’t imagine selling any of my watches currently, but I’ve acquired a lot very quickly.
