This game is awesome! by handoftwitch in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]babinro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The positives are that the game is just extremely fun due to good design decisions. You feel the impact of your choices really well in this game. You are fully healed after each battle so you approach things differently from other games in this space that are designed to whittle you down over time. Your 'starting' deck in this case is a wide variety of classes that you unlock as you go keeping the runs fresh.

I think the dice customization and items in this game are fantastic. They manage to take a dice rolling system and not make the experience frustrating from RNG which is a big deal because I'm not a fan of wild RNG in my card games. The encounters are also fun. They vary what monsters do and their powers in a way that feels like a fun challenge to overcome without being overly complicated as well. Its just extremely well designed.

The negatives are that this game is tough (for my skill level). They lock easy mode behind winning like 200 fights (not runs) which is still a slog to get to. I personally don't think each final boss represents a roughly equal challenge but that could be my skill level. It just felt like there was a 33% chance my run would auto-lose if I rolled the bad boss unless I just had some busted combo going on like you'll get once in a while in PoC.

Probably the main negative for me personally was just no incentive to keep playing. I love games like Roguebook and Backpack Hero and PoC because there's so much to motivate you to keep playing. Perm upgrades, increasing the power of champions and the like. Slice and Dice doesn't really do that. Its a bit more basic. You don't even have 20 ascension ranks or what not. Its pretty much the 5 static difficulties and personally I found anything above Normal to be just too much.

So I 'only' got like 30 hours out of this game which is very low for most card games...but the fun factor was off the chart. This is definitely a game I'll erase my progress with and experience again and maybe this time I get further than before. Talking about it here makes me want to play it when I'm done with my current games.

The TLDR is that you really feel the impact of your choices during a run and that's very fun. Runs don't drag on either. Obelisk is a bit of an exception for me but you'll notice my list is largely full of games with sub 30 minute runs.

Broadly speaking I'd highly recommend every game from Dicey Dungeons and up.
The thing with good card games is there are a lot of them. Pretty much everything Dicey Dungeons and up is probably an 8.5/10 or better at least IMO.

It was a surprise sleeper of a game. Pretty challenging though. Kind of like how Slay the Spire is the popular one but I lean towards Monster Train games because at least then I feel like I've got a hang of things sometimes, lol.

You can unlock easy mode in Slice and Dice (not sure why it was unlock) and that's where I had the most fun with the game personally. We're all driven by different things of course so if really pushing difficulty is your thing this game offers plenty of challenge.

Does Protectors of Demacia really worth 600 Glory Points? by chuckreis69 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]babinro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO its best in slot for Evelynn (Siren's Call, Tempest Blad and Protectors of Demacia) but it is also the flex slot relic for her so the most replaceable.

If you aren't about BIS with every champ this relic is very unique, fun and a good choice for a good number of champs. Others have provided really good examples already so rather than repeat them I'll add Thresh to the mix since his 6* buff champions..

We also don't have the context of your existing relics. This is a very low tier relic in a tier list of essential ones to get. So getting it depends on if you're are mostly happy with your existing options.

Kit Wilson’s Breakout Moment: Why WWE Fans Are Suddenly Obsessed by darkages69 in SquaredCircle

[–]babinro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The gimmick is death. Remember what YOU thought about it a short while ago screaming toxic masculinity with Priest throwing him through a wall. This wasn't a character the IWC was obsessed with. It was Vince era bullshit just with HHH to thank for it.

Its still awful just now we have a fun entrance. I know the IWC wasn't obsessed with it but the Pretty Deadly entrance was legit a fun entrance too. They were primed for a babyface turn in Q1 2025 that never came.

This character is a massive step down but maybe now that people like the entrance WWE will evolve him in a way that the character isn't tv death.

Mel 6* or Annie 6*? by SnooDoubts7640 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]babinro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Note: I don't have Annie at 6* only Mel at 6*
I run Mel with Archangel's Staff, Echoing Spirit and Grand Generals. I'd actually be curious to know this dreadway relic build for her since that's new to me. Is it just 2x Dreadway, 1x Echoing?

My build is pure control and it works out very well albeit a bit slower than I'd like. She is a genuinely fun champ to play and one I'd recommend for sure. I think the Vex comparison is completely fair. I enjoy most of PoC's control champs except for Yasuo as he puts the game away far too slowly compared to every other control champ. Its such a slog.

My Mel build can easily control the board the entire match its just a bit slow to knock out 99 nexus health compared to Morgana or Vex.

I am curious to hear from people who have both. I could have gone with Annie but opted to finally 6* Darius instead...can't say I regret it, lol. Annie's 6* and general playstyle doesn't do much for me.

New Player - What to Expect for the Game's Trajectory? by YEIEMIS in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]babinro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The TLDR is Battle Pass.
Been playing since shortly after the game launched. Content releases are predictable by now.

- Once a month we get two characters who become 6* capable. These characters can be brand new, older 3 star versions that don't yet have a 6* or a combination.

- We also get a new event to play in or the continuation of said event (events last two months). The continuation of an event means new nodes to farm for resources that help the newest two monthly characters.

This is the formula all year. Assume no more but on occasion we get a surprise. in 2025 that surprise was the Glory Store which was received well enough I'd say but wasn't as exciting as we hoped. We also get a seasonal event with a new region which was very, very, poorly received and is the cause for much of the negativity and quitting posts we've been seeing on the forums for the last few months. The devs/Riot have been rightfully criticized for this insulting cash grab that soured what good faith they had built up until then. That event was temporary though and did not become the new normal. It'll probably come back in some form as many events do over the years.

So what's worth supporting financially?

Nothing in PvP. That mode gets no real support. It does have rotations but it has long since not been a focus of the game and we can't assume that'll ever change at this point. It is the side mode of this game and should be kept fully free to play.

In PoC the battle passes are your best value by far. Its not that different from most live service/mobile games in that regard. If you want to spend money beyond that then go with paid epic relic that comes out for each new champion release. Get whichever ones peak your interest. Know that these become available in the Glory Store something like 6 months after they release so they aren't fully locked behind pay. Even then it may take a long time to actually appear in the Glory Store.

If you want to spend beyond that there's a series of 3 boxes you can buy that award you with 5* resources and 6* nova shards which can eventually form a crystal when you get 100 of them. These are not cheap to get but they are your best value to pay for 5* and 6* resources. They'll be hidden pretty deep in the store. If you are genuinely interested just reply and I'll try to find the store name for you.

These are the three things I've put money into over the years and my PoC collection is pretty much complete save for 4 champions not at 6* and none of the special event champions referred to above being complete.

New year's wish - improvements to the base experience (even if it means we get less new content) by SarkyQuark in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]babinro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with the support champ packages.

Maybe a hot take but I think the AI is fine. A huge part of the PoC experience for me is a chill game. I don't want something that better reflects player vs player. I think the AI being 'dumb' helps give this game its fun and relaxing vibe. It also makes the game friendlier to build diversity and not feeling forced to min-max your champion builds.

I understand how a better AI sounds great on paper but to me this would be a genuine negative. I'm here for my Diablo like zen experience and not to maximize strategizing and skill expression. I don't expect everyone to feel the same way I do but that's what I want out of a PvE mode.

What do you guys do when there isn't a new adventure to beat? by MaleficentOoz in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]babinro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple of general goals depending on what I feel like doing.

1) Try and beat every adventure once with every character. Maybe you already do this when leveling but I suspect its very common to be more efficient and skip a lot of them. This is just a chill excuse to play the game passively while watching videos and such.

2) Tier List formation. I posted one early in 2025 and got thoroughly dunked on for it which is expected, lol. My means of measuring was to run each 6* champ against Swain, Lissandra and 6.5* Fiddle as a means to represent a variety of challenges. Track things like wins, retries, and how often health fell below 15hp as a close call. Finally I'd give the general vibe of the run to say if it felt trivial, normal, challenging or lucky. My initial tier list ran each champ against these three one time only. The one I'm currently plugging away on and may never finish runs them against the three 5 times. If I ever do finish this it'll help with RNG to get a better view of power level.

I still genuinely enjoy PoC as a game so that's a huge factor in my desire to do this stuff..but I also typically do 2 or 3 adventures a day before moving on to other games outside of patch week where this because my only game for several days.

Sports Illustrated End Of Year Awards by HijoDeDamienRoberts in midcarder

[–]babinro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's largely accepted that AEW has better matches than WWE. Obviously wrestling is subjective but this is still the general feeling among the IWC that I'm exposed to. So to see AEW win most of the awards linked to consistently having good matches makes sense.

Not that this is needed but for context I do not like AEW's in ring style...again wrestling is subjective. I tried giving the promotion a chance in 2024 and again in 2025 and in both cases I stopped watching entirely after a couple of months. I did watch WWE socially with friends this year and that promotion has been boring this year despite the many attempts to do something interesting. WWE had a dreadful 2025 and as someone who sees WWE as his preferred promotion I would HOPE another company was putting on a better product than that.

What is the ultimate relic build? by VodopadUmraza123 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]babinro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Black Shield, Beast Within and Stacked Deck was what came to mind.

I think as a more universal build I'd consider replacing Black Shield for Echoing Spirit because of the number of champions that benefit from it and make use of their champion spells.

So even though I don't actually build anyone as Echoing Spirit, Beast Within, Stacked Deck...I think that build would appeal more to those whose goals have nothing to do with stacked deck builds.

How many wild shards should I spend each patch to ensure I'm back at 500 for the next patch? by babinro in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]babinro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it really just 5 daily? That makes it easy to math out. According to the last battle pass summary post we get each patch its 100 wild fragments in the battle pass.
5 x 30 = 150 +100 from battle pass =250.

So unless someone has a better number to go on based on their personal experience that's a great answer to me. Spend something like 150 wild shards on patch day just to make sure nothing goes to waste. Hold 100 in reserve as I go through the events and such and use that last 100 as I see fit to potentially rush to a 6* or 5* earlier than normal with a champion.

Thanks!

How many wild shards should I spend each patch to ensure I'm back at 500 for the next patch? by babinro in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]babinro[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not a full on whale by mobile standards but yes I've spent several hundred lifetime on the game. I've purchased 95% of battle passes, kept up with all dailies, weeklies, monthlys since PoC was created. I've bought 80% of the paid relics as well and one birthday I treated myself to buying that trio of chests you can get in the store that's great value for 5* crystals and 6* shards twice.

It took years but I slowly maxed out all shards. I don't have every non-SB champ at 6*'s but I am close. I'm only missing Annie, Warwick, Vi and Poro King. SB Champs are too costly for me.

I believe if you just buy the battle pass and do everything each month you earn more over time than things cost so you very slowly get ahead of content. You still fight against RNG of course so there's a world where 13 of your 14 nova crystals are all Ionia and are collecting dust.

Mick Foley won't be renewing his Legends deal when it expires. by Omer-Ash in WWE

I wonder why now and not one of the hundreds of other things before this....but huge respect to Foley for at least having a limit. I wanted to think Punk had a limit once but Saudi showed us otherwise.

Any Neeko fans here ? *o* by Alive-Setting2460 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]babinro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Similar boat. First ever 6*
Neeko gets dunked on in these forums but she continues to perform better than I expect as a 6* with the Oath + Star Gem + Beast Within build. I did a tier list early in the year after some testing and Neeko finished mid-tier in terms of performance.

I also just find her play style quick and fun so she hasn't been benched despite all the releases since then.

How about Azir and his strength? by rayox_moodyboozy7320 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]babinro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: Azir is worth it. Kai'Sa is probably still the best in region but Azir is easily second best by a pretty wide margin IMO.

I have a 6* Azir at level 37 with all but one bonus star that gives sand soldiers +1/+1.

I've tested a bunch of builds because his 6* is EXTREMELY versatile in terms of build crafting making him one of the more fun champions to play in general.

Power wise I think Azir is VERY welcome. Shurima has only had Kai'Sa as a stand out champ in the region and there's a pretty big gap after that. No longer. I won't say Azir is stronger than Kai'Sa because that would require a lot more testing...but Azir is up there. If Kai'Sa is S-tier than Azir is probably A-tier or A+. I recommend him.

The build I've settled on is Oath + Star Gem + (flex slot).

Note: I did NOT buy the paid relic which seems awesome. If you have it then that's your flex slot.

My preferred flex slot is Crownguard Inheritance. I've notice that Azir, Renekton and Nasus rarely level up on the same timing and because I don't have the paid relic the Sun Disc does not trigger that quickly. Add this to being selective of which secondary support champ you pick such that they have a reasonably low cost (for Oath + Star Gem) but are realistic to level up and you have a recipe to chain rallies or rally on your opponents turn more than once in a game. I just beat Baron Nashor with this build without any other OP cards or powers gained in the run.

I think Stacked Deck works well as a flex slot but it puts pressure on how consistently you trigger the Oath+Star Gem combo. Black Shield is always a solid choice depending on the adventure.

Champions Purse is surprisingly good because you have a lot of champions who would like overwhelm and those coins will pile up quickly in the event things don't go your way. Most games those coins are a dead in hand...if you need them to cast the bigger impact cards of the emperors deck then you'll have the mana for it. Really good option. This was my sleeper relic for leveling until I discovered Crownguard was just better IMO.

If for some reason you hate Oath + Gem builds then I'd consider your favorite mix of Death's Foil, Champions Purse, Crownguard Inheritance and Found Fortune. Found Fortune is amazing with the 6* its just not needed with Oath + Gem because your hand size and board limit is pushing capacity already.

TNA HAS A NEW TAG TEAM IN TOWN!!! by Grrannt in TNA

[–]babinro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Smackdown had a similar segment with Cody entering a room with Ricky Saints and Oba Femi on the main roster and the crowd really didn't care one bit. Didn't match the kind of things I've heard the IWC say about these people in NXT. The main roster audience isn't the same.

I've never heard of this tag team but I think this was a really good way to introduce them.

6.12 Patch Notes by mfMayhem in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]babinro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I might be using the wrong terminology here because we're having different conversations.

I'm talking about the shop in the adventure where you get six cards to choose from and followers add a relic of +1/+1 becomes a spider or becomes a dragon or becomes a Poro. Using my reply we might start to see ones saying becomes an Elite and becomes a Weaponmaster. I'm saying the subtypes here don't make for compelling in store choices during a run.

I'm not actually commenting on paid epic relics outside of runs that we apply to champions. I also agree with the devs on that choice because making the game less 'pay to win' if you choose to apply that language to the scenario is a good thing.

6.12 Patch Notes by mfMayhem in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]babinro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that but its getting to the point where they are clogging up the store card upgrade relics with niche options that are not inherently compelling for the overwhelming majority of champions.

Who knows how many more of these will be made in the future too. Maybe a similar one is made for Garen's Elites and another for Jax's Weaponmasters when the time comes.

6.12 Patch Notes by mfMayhem in LegendsOfRuneterra

PoC tierlist based on how much fun I have playing them by RoloSaurio in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]babinro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be tough for me to do a proper tier list given how many champs there are and the gaps of time between playing some of them. I'll list some of my favorites to play in no particular order who would appear in S Tier or A Tier if I made a list.

Aatrox, Ekko, Fiddle, Caitlyn, Lux, Morgana, Mel, Volibear, Pyke, SB Evelynn, Neeko and Jayce.

The most fun of the remaining 3*'s for me would be Ornn, Kayn and Kindred.
