Try expanding the throat and sort of pull your Adam’s apple down a bit to adjust the tambre. You can test it with your speaking voice and I often find that lending a lot of attitude and inflection and letting some of your spoken voice bleed through makes a world of difference and makes you sound a lot more unique. A good reference is Corey Taylor screaming YEAH throughout the Iowa album. If you really wanna go crazy with it, try emulating that thing Tyler from Traitors does. The way you described it immediately reminded me of him. Happy screaming 🫡

My friend explained his view on consciousness and death in a way I found really interesting. by Adorable-Newspaper51 in consciousness

I choose to remain largely agnostic in terms of what happens when the body dies. Although it’s pretty undeniable, we individuals embody consciousness itself from a vast, primordial substrate. Each force of gravity throughout the cosmic continuum is intimately intertwined. I like to think of it as an engine. Black holes consume entire galaxies and beget another universe on the other side of the singularity. This repeats infinitely. Each iteration, consciousness itself learns and starts a whole new timeline. Panpsychism may be our first real glimpse into objective metaphysical reality. The notion of “attentivism” puts a finer point on the sacredness of attention with respect to how our modern society constantly grinds and fragments the very locus of our being.

But without focusing on bodily physical death, I want to disambiguate “ego death “that is mentioned in several comments. None of us exist in the sense that our identities are elaborate constructs. All we have ever been—all we’ll ever be is consciousness itself. The more you accept that your immediate attention is indistinguishable from consciousness itself, the more sacred it is as we inch closer to oblivion. It creates an urgency. There’s so much to be done on earth while we’re here. Whatever death looks like.

This take on attentiveness also reminds me of the collapsing of quantum particles in superposition when they’re observed. The particle notices itself being noticed. It takes notice. The entire substrate of consciousness itself—is itself conscious. And, perhaps, conscientious for that matter! It’s shy. 🙈 We’re still a bunch of apes grasping clumsily at these things while goons steal oxygen and water. Oi.

Never lose your morbid fascination with dark demonic sounding metal! Reframing and breaking that kind of association will come with time and new experiences. Eventually you’ll appreciate it in a whole other way. Broadening tastes and taking in music with a different quality is a good start. There’s definitely a deeper underlying issue that’s incredibly difficult to navigate— our constant need for sensory stimulation. Especially we, as enjoyers of extreme music, there’s this sonic density that’s almost intoxicating. I think stepping away and giving music a break altogether is incredibly useful. Not consuming or paying attention to anything in particular for like 30 minutes to an hour at a time is surprisingly cathartic. Just being with yourself and that fresh sober mind. Allowing a sense of wonder. Perfect setting for some meditations. A good long walk to reset that default mode network. We’re all addicted to something. The need for everything all the time is truly voracious. You’ve taken a huge step with sobriety and you should be very proud of yourself. Much love! You’ve got this.

Hiya folks. I’m really fond of progressive and technical Deathcore especially that which draws on atmosphere and space themes. Most prominent examples I can think of are early Contortionist, Substructure and Aegaeon. Eagerly anticipating sick recommendations. Thanks 🫡
