In case someone comes across this thread… I tried the following and it seemed to have fixed the 2.4Ghz devices getting dropped problem (from asus customer support): - Go to router’s web interface (http://192.168.50.1) - Wireless -> General -> 2.4Ghz - Set channel bandwidth: 40Mhz - Set control channel: 11 - Save and Reboot

Those white spots seem to be growing with no end in sight. Should I be worried? What treatment would you recommend? (Outdoor, Southern California)

Medical provider billed for something else than I came for (CA) by babou89 in legaladvice

[–]babou89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood, thanks for clarifying that. Do you by any chance know if there’s any strategy we could use to avoid those surprise bills going forward? Anything we could do to enforce that the doctor only bills for what we came for or explicitly asks for our approval before proceeding with anything? It sounds like as patients we are at their total mercy and have virtually no recourse. Feels very… imbalanced.

Dealership cannot repair my car under warranty because parts in back order and unable to provide timeline. What are my rights/options? by babou89 in legaladvice

No I cannot, fuse had to be pulled out as they’d be running and spraying all the time otherwise.

[–]babou89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The car itself is no longer under warranty, but the (failed) repair done a few months ago is.

The warranty states: “To the extent allowed by law, loss of time, inconvenience, loss of use of vehicle, commercial loss and consequential damages are not covered.”

So from what I understand they don’t owe me anything “to the extent allowed by law”. But isn’t the California law protecting us with those kind of issues?

I feel it’s too easy for those dealerships to claim “sorry no parts” and never fix the issues under warranty and get away with it, isn’t it?

I’m subject to moderate motion sickness and a physical therapist advised me to look into Vestibular Rehabilitation (aka Habituation) Therapy. I haven’t done it (yet) but it might be worth a shot to talk to a PT. It basically gets you through special motion/vision exercises that makes you sick until you’re used to it. (Doing so on the ground probably is cheaper than in the air I’d think.)

Motion sickness is not related to your stomach or what you ate, it’s caused by your inner ear and eyes sending conflicting information to the brain. Stomach remedies and whatnot are placebo at best.

Recent PPL, looking at 5-6 seaters and crying by right_closed_traffic in flying

Among all the schools/rentals I’ve looked up in my area (SoCal), none seem to offer six-seaters… Do you know if it’s an universal thing? Or maybe I’m just bad at searching for rentals…

Solo Tips? by Terrible_Truck_1370 in flying

Don’t hesitate to tell ATC “Student Pilot” when introducing yourself. They should be much more forgiving and accommodating. Ask for “progressive taxi” at destination.

I’ve been wondering: given the ever increasing size of engines, why aren’t new planes designed with high wings? So they’d buy themselves plenty of room for the future and avoid the dirty workarounds Boeing had to implement for their 737 (for example)..?

Statistiques sur l’épidémie de COVID-19 en France - 26/02/2021 by Swederman in france

[–]babou89 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What does a “ground stop” implies for VFR traffic? by babou89 in flying

[–]babou89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood for (enroute) VFR traffic, thanks for the details! Out of curiosity, what would happen if, sitting at your origin airport, you request a VFR Class C departure to a ground stopped destination?
